Geo ,
arriving soon I'll have Suzie 69 and Katy Keene 8
bidding on Suzie 88
In the middle of Scanning 19 issues of various Charlton 1960's Romance Titles for CB+'s holdings.
-
Suzie 69 uploaded
-
Oh, the nostalgia! ::) I earned my spending money at college manning just such a switchboard.
-
Katy Keene 8 uploaded
Interesting issue because artist/writer, Bill Woggon, draws/writes a story where he stars in it along with Sis.
-
Now up!
Thanks K.
:)
-
Just as a heads up, in the last couple days over at CB+ I posted 19 new 1960's Charlton scans: 18 Romance and 1 Hot Rod Racers
also
Harvey, Hi-School Romance 32, Oct 1954 uploaded
the cover of the copy I scanned was marred by ink pen "doodling", so I grabbed a clean scan of the cover from an old HA listing. While on HA I found an extra bonus for this issue: a scan of the original B&W cover art before it had been colored and further edited.
-
Done, thanks K.
Geo
-
Suzie 88 & 97 ready & waiting
-
That sounds...strange...somehow.
-
Thanks K, now up!
-
That sounds...strange...somehow.
it didn't when typed it, but upon reflection there is some innuendo to it and the implication that there are multiple Suzies, kinda like fembots or Mudd's women in that old Star Trek epsisode. ;D
-
True Bride to Be Romances 25, Harvey, Aug 1957 awaits your pleasure
-
Thanks K!
Now up in its own category along with a couple other new categories.

Geo
-
This is the 1st what hopefully will be many scans by kleiaa
1st uploaded is Suzie 96 (which I bid on and lost but kleiaa was gracious enough to scan it for us before sending to her customer.)
We can look forward to more Katy Keene, Mopsy and My Liitle Margie.
-
Thanks for reaching out to her!
-
Hey there. When I download Suzie 96 the page order is all outta whack. Is it just me?
-
The first 9 jpg files were single numbers causing the zipped pages in the wrong order. Renaming the jpg files, adding a number (0) in front of the single digits will put the pages in the right order.
;)

Courtesy of ComixCroz, Laugh Comix 48, now uploaded
Should be ok. in the numbering sequence Laugh Comix (46-48) falls between Top-Notch Laugh Comics (28-45) and Suzie Comics (49-100), both of which are PD in their entirety, remember to not confuse Laugh Comix with Laugh Comics (which are not PD)
-
Thanks K.
And yes, it's a little tricky but I did check it and it seems the three Comix issues are Ok.
Nice work!
-
comixcroz will also be scanning his beater copy of #47 for us. We are on our own for #46. These are hard to find books. Bidding always exceeds what I am willing to pay on Evilbay. Perhaps the LoC has it.

ALSO
A Replacement for IW/Super Sensational Police Cases 5 is being uploaded. :)
The current version on DCM that Tigger uploaded in 2008 is NOT IW Sensational Police Cases 5, it is in fact just a scan of Avon's Prison Break 5 (which the IW book is reprinted from) that has been listed as the IW book w/o even changing the cover or anything. >:(
The other day I found an actual scan of Sensational Polics Cases 5 on The Longbox, (scanner unknown)and uploaded it to CB+
-
Now up, thanks guys!

IW Strange Mysteries 9 & 10 now up

Now live, thanks very much K!

another IW-Super book from K1ngcat, The Spirit 11
-
Thanks K, now up.
-
why no cover thumbnail? ???
-
That can take some time to show up.
But if it's not a jpg it will never show or if it's super, super big it might choke on it and none will show up after that book either.
---
Ah, I see it's a bad file K.
"Can't open CBR file"
I've downloaded it and I'm don't see anything obviously wrong with it. I'll upload a recreated cbz file and see if that works.
-Yoc
-
My cbz is working in Preview but a new cover thumbnail will not show up. You'd need to upload the book from scratch to get one.
I'd suggest unzipping and recreating a new file for any future K1ngcat files before uploading. I know it's extra work but it might be he's using a zip application that's not completely compatible with DCM's software.
Thanks for sharing this with us K,
-Yoc
-
New version uploading now (give it a bit, slow upload speed)
-
Now up, thanks K!
-
ACG, Clutching Hand 1. now really fixed and c2c
I don't know where we got the current version from of this comic from but it is jacked up, stories out of order, obvious B&W modern reprint pages, wrong ads,
missing 2 one page comic stories & 2 one page text stories. BUT!, I have a fix, I had access to a copy and the owner let me make color photo copies of the
missing pages which I scanned & combined with the good ones from the old iteration to make a whole c2c copy.
-
Hi K,
Thanks for all your hard work.
Those IW bootleg reprints of The Spirit introduced the character to a lot of comic readers & collectors my age.
When I found the IW issues I was already in fandom & buying some Golden Age books by Snail Mail. But, in the Quality issue of The Spirit I bought, was all war-time stories with art by Lou Fine. The three IW issues contained the first stories I ever saw with Eisner's art.
I'm very glad to now have this issue in electronic form.
-
your welcome, The thanks for most of these IW books going up lately goes to K1ngcat over at CB+ he has been generously scanning his childhood IW books, and there's more to come!

Intimate Confessions 9, IW, 1958 ready soon, I'm re-uploading after a quick file naming edit
-
so I was reading through some older uploads on CB+ and fate directed me to Hollywood Confessions 2 and even though it had been up since 2012 the pages were out of order (tip-off being that the thumbnail was an ad page). I checked here too and even though the thumbnail was displaying properly, when you open it in preview it's also out of order. So I did a quick file re-naming edit (001, 002, etc...) and all is peachy now. Re-uploaded with the original file name and credits/notes pasted over from the original upload.
-
Nicely done K.
Thanks for catching this and for the fix.

still need a 2016 calendar?
well try a 1949 calendar (the dates line-up just right)
from the soon to be edited Suzie 67, a 1949 Katy Keene pin-up calendar:
Well they do now, but don't use it to look back to January or February as 1949 was not a leap year.
And it's great to hear #67 is in the pipeline. I believe that leaves us needing only
#49 most of it -- we have one story only
#52 two damaged pages
#62 inside front & inside back covers
#64 inside front, inside back & outside back covers
#73 inside front, inside back & outside back covers
#76 missing two pages
#82 missing four pages
#100 inside front, inside back & outside back covers
-
Agreed. I've always called them coffins. Where old comics go to die.
GL on getting that 49.
-Yoc
-
Unfortunately, Suzie 49 (http://www.comics.org/issue/237496/ (http://www.comics.org/issue/237496/)) has quite a bit of yellow on the cover, so that ring might not work.
-
Thanks Gentlemen for the Pep, always welcome.
Geo
-
there are 6 heavily damaged pages, but this book [Pep 68] is darned hard to find, we can't be picky. Perhaps page fills will show up some day
we need 66, 70 & 71 to complete the PD part of Pep comics
These 4 books are available at the Library of Congress, so we will hopefully obtain scans eventually.
-
Hi K,
There is a lot involved in doing your own scan as you know. Besides just having the book. You need a PC, a scanner, software to edit the book and save it at a size that works on DCM.
The other option we always mention is IF you do own a book that isn't on the site or it IS on the site but yours is in better condition or more complete RANGERHOUSE is willing to scan the book for you! We will scan and ship it back to you and one of our editors will work on the raw scans and upload it to the site.
To see a list of book still needed on DCM check out the list that Movielover has been keeping for us here - http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/forum/index.php/topic,4081.0.html
You can see the wonderful scanner Rangerhouse uses at the start of the topic. It's much safer than your typical scanner from Staples.

Geo

A hearty "thank you" to RH and Krac for Blue Beetle #39. :)
-
I thank you as well good sirs! I've been waiting for YEARS to read the full "Threat from Saturn" serial!!! Seriously. Blue Beetle #35 was one of the very first GA superhero books I ever bought. If I remember right, I got it on Yahoo auctions back in early 1999 when I was just 15 or 16. It pre-dated my "All-Amazing Comics" reprinting days by a good 5-6 months, pre-dated my discovery of Bill Nolan's "Pure Excitement Comics," and really even pre-dated my knowledge of the Golden Age in general outside of DC and Marvel. I knew of Fawcett from reprints in Shazam! and the fact that I already had bought an issue of Captain Marvel Jr. a few years earlier. I also knew that Blue Beetle, one of my favorite DC characters, had come from another company and had a history in the Golden Age, but I really didn't know anything at all about this "Fox Features Syndicate" that made the book. Certainly nothing about the myriad of other GA publishers out there. All I cared about was the name "Blue Beetle" on the cover. I absolutely LOVED the book. It was missing the centerfold which made the Joan Mason story incomplete, but what did that matter? Blue Beetle was complete, and he was the reason I bought the book. He WAS complete, wasn't he? Oh, wait, one story was part of a serial! Darn it!!!
I was frustrated then because I "knew" for certain that I'd never be able to get the rest of the books to finish that story. I didn't even have any idea how long it was! Heck, it wasn't until you posted the book that I even knew whether or not Fox even finished the darned thing or just let it drop open-ended. So again, thank you. I can't wait for some quiet time to sit down and read the entire serial from beginning to end. I'm sure it's probably no classic, but it has meaning for me, so that alone should make it an enjoyable experience.
-Eric

Thanks for sharing Eric. A fun read.
