Title: uploading selected restored pages
Post by: toshiro0 on March 17, 2015, 06:45:40 PM
Using the GIMP software, I have cleaned up and restored the colors of various covers and panels from the Kaanga lord of the Jungle comic book series (which I downloaded from DCM) . These are not complete comic books, only certain covers and panels that I thought were exceptional artwork and that would lend themselves nicely to restoration. My question is: am I allowed to upload selected pages, that I have restored, from comic books that I downloaded from DCM?

Yes, it should be ok if you are the original poster of the file. Just resave the file and mark it "diff vers" if your leaving the old one up. We have a member here that is re-scanning a lot of the books he scanned years ago to better scans.

Thank you for your timely response. Unfortunately I am not the original poster of the file. Would it be possible to send an example of a restored page to the owner of the file and/or get permission from him or her to upload the new version.

You can click 'Reply' here and under 'Additional Options' you can attach a page.
But please shrink the page to no more than 800pts in height.

I recently sent in an example of a restored comic book page (which I am NOT the original poster of) asking permission to upload a few more. Where would I find the response (if one has been sent)?

Hi Toshiro,
Sorry but we don't see your upload.
As I said about, you can ATTACH a sample page here inside this topic using REPLY and then "Additional Options".

We would reply to you here.

Here is a restored "Kaanga" panel and a before and after restoration of a "Jungle Girl" panel. As I stated in my original email I am NOT the original poster of this artwork but would like to know if I may upload some of my restorations. Sincerely, Jim

Hi Jim,
These are very nice.
IF these are not from a printed source you can share them here.  If the were printed they would be under copyright and not safe for this site.

Collect them all into a single folder, create a ZIP file of them and follow this tutorial on how to upload to the site.
http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1882.0.html

Please call the file 'Various restorations' and put them in the Misc section on the site.

In the description area let us know which books these are from and if possible, who has done these restorations.

Thanks for sharing,
-Yoc
