Do we have the origin story of the Spirit and if so where is it?
I find the navigation of this site really hard to use...! :-[ :)

Navigation is simple. I think you mean the lack of a search ability. I'd suggest searching at the Grand Comic-Book Database
http://www.comics.org/
then finding the comics here

A great suggestion Jon.

There are at least two versions of the Spirit origin story. One is from the very first Spirit Sunday section from 1940. Eisner redid the origin story in the mid forties after he came back from the army. I have that one in one of the Warren Spirits from the 70s. It was one Warren reprinted in color in one of their special issues as I remember. My copy is in a box that hasn't been opened in a few years.

There are actually three. Kitchen Sink reprinted the middle one (1946) in, I think, the first issue of their color SPIRIT comic.

There was a newly drawn one in the mid-60s Harvey Spirit #1.

I'd forgotten about that one. I have it in another box. I bought any Spirit reprint I could in the 70s. The two 60s Harvey Spirit comics have a few pages of new material in addition to the reprints.
