Title: Golden Age Comics Figurine Collection
Post by: GoldenAgeFigurines on September 29, 2013, 10:27:18 PM
Hi All,

This topic is dedicated to the latest news concerning The Golden Age Comics Figurine Collection produced by Goldenagefigurines.com (http://Goldenagefigurines.com). Rather than clutter the forum with separate threads for each figurine, I will concentrate the updates in this one. Our current figurine available for pre-order is Fantomah, Mystery Woman of the Jungle, the first superheroine in the history of comics:

(http://www.goldenagefigurines.com/uploads/2/0/4/3/20435075/9411616_orig.jpg)Created by the enigmatic Fletcher Hanks, Fantomah is a mysterious supernatural protector of the African jungles who inflicts bizarre punishments on evildoers. All of the Fantomah tales drawn by Hanks have been collected in two fantastic books edited by Paul Karasik, I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets! (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1560978392/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tlie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1560978392&linkCode=as2&tag=goldenagefi0b-20) and You Shall Die by Your Own Evil Creation! (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B559BJK/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00B559BJK&linkCode=as2&tag=goldenagefi0b-20), both published by Fantagraphics. I believe most of them are also available for free right here on this fantastic site!

Fantomah is sculpted at 1/21 scale and stands 3.75" (9.5 cm) tall, with an estimated weight of 1.25 oz (35.4 g). The production run will be limited to 250 pieces and divided into 3 color variants: the white, yellow, and blue skull editions, each based on a specific color scheme from the original comics. The ratio of each variant produced will depend upon the number of pre-orders received. Each variant will have its own label, be individually numbered, and come in a full color printed box.

To reduce the chance of breakage, the figurine will be packaged separately from the base; a small drop of super glue will be required to attach it. The pre-order price in our online shop (http://goldenagefigurines.storenvy.com/) is just $14.95; the offer is good until October 31, 2013, after which the figurine will be priced at $16.95. We anticipate the figurines to arrive by December 2013/January 2014. The final product may differ somewhat from the digital illustration shown here, as it is a hand painted item.

We also have some special package deals: the Fantomah Two Variant Special (http://goldenagefigurines.storenvy.com/products/3058890-fantomah-two-variant-special) for just $28.90 (a savings of $1 over ordering them separately); a Fantomah Three Variant Special (http://goldenagefigurines.storenvy.com/products/3059124-fantomah-three-variant-special) for just $42.85 (a savings of $2 over ordering them separately); and a Fantomah+Stardust Special (http://goldenagefigurines.storenvy.com/products/3059238-fantomah-stardust-special) for just $36.62 (a savings of $3 over ordering them separately). All offers expire 10/31/13.

Before I close, let me just say how happy I am that our participation in this month's donation drive has helped raise so much money for the site; I am as excited as anyone to see who the lucky winner will be on October 1. I hope we can do something similar with Fantomah once she becomes available at the end of the year.

Best Regards,

Jared Zichek, Owner

Thanks Jared.
But please post on some other topics here on the forum as well.  One wouldn't want it to appear DCM was just a free source for advertising for you right?

OK, sorry - so busy with things that I seldom have time to chime in, though I do certainly enjoy browsing the comics here!

Please, please do Jared.  We've made a big exception on our 'no advertising posts' for your figures.
And of course you know how much we appreciate the goodwill you helped bring out from our donation run last month as well.  But there has been some private message sent to me asking why we are allowing 'personal advertising' on the site now?  Things like that.  It would help to say you are a regular poster to the site.

Let us know when you hear from the Stardust winner.

Why not have a section of the forum for this sort of thing?  Personally, it doesn't bother me, although I understand why you don't want to open the floodgates.  On the other hand, I never would have heard about things like Jared's figurines, or the collections of Fletcher Hanks stories, or any number of projects featuring characters & stories from the books hosted here without seeing it somewhere.

CB+ has a "Shameless Self Promotion" section that effectively quarantines this kind of thing and gives it a place. Win-win.

Yeah, the idea was bounced around by the DCM staff way back and we figured it best to not have one.  That doesn't mean it wont ever happen but I don't know if or when it will.

My personal feelings on the matter (i.e., one small element in the overall, ever-evolving policy discussion) is that an announcement is fine as long as it's some favorable combination of being strongly on-topic and the person being a strong part of the community.  That is, from my point of view, the better I know you, the more kindly I'm likely to look at your project announcement being off-topic.  There are a few people here who, in my opinion, are such an integral part of the community that whatever they want to talk about is inherently on-topic.

I'm far less charitable toward conducting business here (i.e., ongoing announcements, drumming up business discussion, etc.) after the announcement.  We're not here to provide free blog hosting to people trying to make a buck, no matter how much we like the person or company.

Again, that's just my own view, and I don't expect anybody else to agree.
