Title: Does Blue Beetle hold some kind of record?
Post by: profpike on September 23, 2013, 08:38:39 PM
What I mean is-he's had four publishers, three different versions, a radio show, I can't think of any comparable character in this regard.

Fawcett's Captain Marvel?

2 publishers: Fawcett and DC
movie serial
tv series
Captain Marvel I think switched off with Captain Marvel Jr at some point
now he's known as "Shazam"

?

G.I. Joe might but it is not one character but a collective:
Published by Marvel, Image, Dark horse, and now IDW.
Two animated series, an animated full-length movie, and two live action movies.
As well as two very distinct looking action figure lines (the big ones and the smaller ones).

P.S. The IDW series actually picks up from issue #155 which was the last Marvel numbering.

Tarzan had series from Dell, Gold Key, Charlton (unauthorized) DC, Marvel, Malibu, Dark Horse. He was also featured with strip reprints in Comics on Parade, Tip Top, Sparkler, Single Series (solo), and Blackthorne plus of course a bunch of book reprints as well most recently IDW.

I believe Blue Beetle also had a short-lived comic strip.

I took the topic to be about characters originating in comics.
