Looking for scans of UK comics, Wags, 64,65,66,67,68, 69,70 Early work of Jack Kirby.
Anybody ever heard of them?
I am looking into making a DCM Archive of all of the public domain work of Jack.
I pretty much sure that I do not know what I am getting myself into.
I am using the Jack Kirby chronology listed over at:
http://www.marvelmasterworks.com/resources/kirby_chronology.html
Is this the best list currently available?

I might be wrong, but I don't see where any Wags issues have been scanned.

Interestingly, the British comic Book Guide doesn't list any Kirby art in WAGS. The #s you list are the T.V. Boardman issues (the publisher seems to have changed around issue# 30 or #32, when it started to be published in the U.K.) and the guide suggests they contain Eisner and Meskin art - no mention of Kirby. Certainly the guide I have does have errors but that would be a pretty big omission. Unfortunately, I have no examples of the title and I don't know anyone who has so I can't physically check. You could consider posting on

but be prepared for a possibly rougher ride than you would expect on here or CB+. They are mostly nice folk and very knowledgable about British comics but occasionally...............? ::)
There is an issue listed on ebay:-

Sorry, all over the place with this but;- http://thecomicsdetective.blogspot.co.uk/2010_04_01_archive.html
does mention Kirby as Jack Curtiss in a few episodes of Count of Monte Cristo. But mostly they were by Lou Fine.
Totally confusing but that's all I have.

To make things even more interesting look at the chronology of the pages of Jack Kirby artwork.
Jumbo Comics #2. over at:
http://www.marvelmasterworks.com/resources/kirby_chronology.html
It lists the following:
In October, 1938, Kirby signing as Curtis produced 8 pages of art in Jumbo #2.
Jumbo # 2 : Ficton House - "The Diary of Dr. Hayward" (4)
Jumbo # 2 : Ficton House - "Wilton of the West" (4)
We happen to have that book on DCM, I looked at it and it ALSO has 4 pages of "The Count of Monte Cristo", signed by Jack Curtis!
It looks a lot like Kirby to me!! What do YOU think?
These pages look to be undocumented, perhaps reprinted from the March, 1938, Wags #64 & 65, or perhaps the April, 1938 issues of Wags #66,67,68,69, or May, 1938, Wags, 70 and 71?
I would bet that Jumbo #2 has the first four pages of Monte Cristo art and #3 has the other four pages (which DCM,*sigh* does not have).
Here is the info from that website to look over. He only did 1 page of art in each of the Wags issues. Each a page of "The Count of Monte Cristo", for a total of eight pages. The number in the brackets is the # of pages produced for that book.
Mar 1938 (2)
Wags # 64 : J B Powers (UK) - "The Count of Monte Cristo" (1)
Wags # 65 : J B Powers (UK) - "The Count of Monte Cristo" (1)
Apr 1938 (4)
Wags # 66 : J B Powers (UK) - "The Count of Monte Cristo" (1)
Wags # 67 : J B Powers (UK) - "The Count of Monte Cristo" (1)
Wags # 68 : J B Powers (UK) - "The Count of Monte Cristo" (1)
Wags # 69 : J B Powers (UK) - "The Count of Monte Cristo" (1)
May 1938 (2)
Wags # 70 : J B Powers (UK) - "The Count of Monte Cristo" (1)
Wags # 71 : J B Powers (UK) - "The Count of Monte Cristo" (1)
Sep 1938 (8)
Jumbo # 1 : Ficton House - "The Diary of Dr. Hayward" (4)
Jumbo # 1 : Ficton House - "Wilton of the West" (4)
Oct 1938 (8)
Jumbo # 2 : Ficton House - "The Diary of Dr. Hayward" (4)
Jumbo # 2 : Ficton House - "Wilton of the West" (4)
Nov 1938 (8)
Jumbo # 3 : Ficton House - "The Diary of Dr. Hayward" (4)
Jumbo # 3 : Ficton House - "Wilton of the West" (4)
Detective work is kind of fun!

The Count of Monte Cristo by Kirby signing as Curtis is in Jumbo's 1 and 2, with 3 on its Lou Fine signing as Jack Cortez
-
Perhaps a bit late with this but if not, about halfway down the page there is a "Diary of Doctor Hayward" page by Curt Davis (Kirby)
