Title: School friendly comics from DCM?
Post by: Captain DJ on September 28, 2012, 02:07:42 PM
I have a school that is interested in using comics from DCM in their English classes to make literacy classes more exciting / interesting.

Since we have over 10k comics on the site does anyone here recommend any comic series from that site that are child friendly (11 - 16 years old) that don't contain any bad content?

Try Jingle Jangle and Land of the Lost first.  Also, for heroic buffs, I'd recommend Captain Marvel and all the Marvel Family characters.

11 to 16 is a hard age to predict.  DM's suggestions along with Animal Comics would be fine for a younger child but 11 on... I'm not sure.  Some like myself back then were into horror but I doubt they'd be welcome in a school situation.

Fawcett might be the safest suggestion and they might even know who Capt. Marvel is from TV.

Since we don't have the obvious choice here (Classics Illustrated), there's only two clear "other" choices I'm shocked no one mentioned yet.

I recommend True Comics and also Stories By Famous Authors Illustrated.

Heroic  Comics is another one that might just work too.
