Title: Centuar publishing?
Post by: Drahken on April 14, 2012, 12:03:52 PM
There's a new torrent on demonoid with some golden age comics. I went through the list & most of them are already here. There are a few listed however which didn't come up in a search here, I don't know if there's a reason (ie, copyright) why they're not or if it's just that nobody found them/uploaded them. The condition & quality of these scans is unknown, to quote the torrent uploader:

This is my Sixth golden age mega collection for the Centaur Publishing comics. There are super-heroes, war, romance, humour, kids, western, horror, Sci-Fi, etc. comics. These are all I could find on the net and again as they are old expect damaged pages, missing pages, fiche, paper and fiche, digital camera etc. copies. Thanks go to all the original sources, scanners, editors and uploaders. If you know of more comics or better copies please email me.

Here's a list of the comics in the torrent that I couldn't find here on DCM:

I would post a link to the torrent, but since demonoid lists torrents for copyrighted stuff too, I don't know if that be against the rules here. A simple websearch should bring it up for anyone who's interested.

We have, for example, all of those Amazing-Man comics:

Hmm... Looks like DCM's search function is sub-par then. I searched for all of those with DCM's search function, and none turned up. I first tried searching for "centuar", figuring that'd be the easiest route, but got a "no results" error. Then I went & searched for each title.

Looking at the page for amazing mystery funnies though, it seems I was correct about the missing ones there.

^ Does not list 3, 9, 13, 18, or 19.

I take it our search function if looking for matching text in ... the file description? It's not working by categories or file name?

The difference was we used volume and # as listed in the book itself while the torrent just used numbers.
No, searching just for the word Centaur doesn't list all Centaur books, sorry.
You CAN search for words within descriptions.

Last I was able to figure, searches included the name, the description, the file's name, and apparently the upload date.  It doesn't seem to include the folder/category, and I could never figure out if it included the uploader, since the name usually appears elsewhere, as well.

One problem may be the company's name is centaur not centuar.

Remember a before u except after q.
