Title: art ID
Post by: narfstar on December 18, 2011, 06:09:40 PM
On the
http://kirbymuseum.org/blogs/simonandkirby/archives/category/artists/premiani-bruno
site, Harry has a picture that I was proud of my minimal skills. I thought Kirby no Meskin no Kirby and low and behold at the end of the page it was Kirby pencil with Meskin inks. He goes on to mention finding no evidence that Kirby did many of the layouts. With this is a page credited to Meskin alone. To me this page screams Kirby influence, especially the girl. Any comments?

If you hadn't mentioned Kirby, I would never have suspected that page to have been handled in any way by him (that was my first impression upon seeing the page in total).  But since you did, my mind is now fixated on trying to find some link.  Perhaps the male figure in the main panel (btw, that girl's forearm looks kinda short to me for some reason)... and his hands in the last panel.  Besides the face in the second panel, the girl doesn't look that Kirby-ish.

I'd still tend to say... nope, no Kirby here.

I am posting now in case I forget later. I will be posting All True Romance 9 in a couple of weeks. I think the first and third stories are by Don Heck but need confirmation.
Title: Henry Scarpelli

McHale's Navy stories are listed as Henry Scarpelli for pen and ink. The inking on the three issues is way different. Does anyone have any to check or I can put issues in the ftp for checking.

Are they on CB+, Jim?
I didn't find them in the obvious location. I don't want to hold out much expectations for any insight from me. I'm not that familiar with Scarpelli and Dell inkers from that era tend to blur. But I'll take a look for you. The ftp is okay if they aren't on CB+.
