While I was thrilled to see more of Stars & Stripes #6 turn up here last week, I remain fairly certain that the Amazing-Man story that we have in the incomplete Amazing-Man Comics #26 is actually the story from S&S #6. The collectors-society.com site has photos of the cover and first two stories from AMC #26, and that features a 13 page story in which Aman fights Dr. Mord and his trained vultures. This both matches the cover of #26 (admittedly, something of a rarity for that series), and the story page count listed by the Grand Comic Book Database. Our version of #26 has a story involving a copper price fixing scheme, and is only 9 pages long, the length the Database lists for the Aman feature in S&S #6. Certainly, it's possible that the Database is wrong, or even that our version is missing 4 pages, I strongly suspect that it's just in the wrong file.
Also, somewhere on-line, I've seen a Mighty Man & Super-Ann story in which Ann's mother is kidnapped by gangsters who force Ann to work for them. Since I don't recall seeing this story in any of our other issues of either title, I'm pretty sure that must be one of the missing stories from S&S #6, since I think that's the only Super-Ann story that's missing here. Unless, of course, I'm confused and that story is here somewhere and I just blanked on it.
That's my case. What does everyone else think?

Hi CN,
Could you please post links to the collectors-society.com site has photos of the cover and first two stories from AMC #26?
Both these incomplete scans come from a variety of sources, but mainly RichardB. Richard was great for sharing but only stories here and there and he wasn't the best for keeping notes of where things came from. He'd also sell the books after scanning and wouldn't have them to refer back to.
So AMan26 and S&SC 6 might well be mixed up. It sounds like your suggestion might be plausible. The 9pg story seems complete to me on reading.
The GCD listing for Aman26 might have errors just because of our incomplete version on DCM.
If you can nail down the Mighty Man story that would nice too. Is that one we already have on DCM or are we missing it? Sorry, I haven't read any of those. If we are missing it please try and locate a link for that as well if you can.
Thanks for bringing this up. The incomplete books shared in parts here and there will always be a headache if we don't have a fiche scan or compete book to reference against.

The link for AMC #26 is
http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=4003528&fpart=1
The copy they have there is coverless, but the second story they show is the second and final Meteor Martin, which as far as I know, never ran in Stars & Stripes Comics

Good stuff. Thanks CN.
I'll look into this as soon as I can get to it.

Hi CN,
I checked out your link. Yeah, it does sound likely you were right about the AMan story. It would have been great if the buyer had continued to share scans.
EDIT - checking the Aman26 auction on Heritage which includes a scan of the ninth page of a 'Nightshade' story - this matches the the page count for this issue in the Keltner Guide listing- so yes, we have the wrong Aman story in the current version of Aman26 now on DCM.
I'll repost S&S6 and a corrected Aman26 when I can tweak these digital photos from the Collector's Society site.

Cool. Well, I guess that's one mystery solved. Now, if I could just remember where I saw the scans of what I'm pretty sure is the missing Mighty Man story from Stars & Stripes #6...

If you spot it let me know!

Ok, I'm pretty sure that the Mighty Man & Super Ann story that I think belongs in Stars & Stripes #6 is posted here: http://groups.yahoo.com/gropu/TheCentaurUniverse/files/Mighty Man % 26 Super Ann/

Thanks CN!

The corrected S&S 6 has now been added to the site. A new Aman 26 will be added once I can figure out how to fix the digital camera pictures shared on the Collector's Society link.
My thanks to Comicsnorth for pointing out the problem and links for these.

Comicsfan misspelled the string: its actually groups.yahoo.com/group/theCentaurUniverse/files/Mighty_Man_&_Super_Ann

Oops! The proper spelling will probably help!

The corrected Aman 26 has now been added to the site. A new S&S will be added once I can figure out how to fix the digital camera pictures shared on the Collector's Society link.
Is it? The #26 on site gives a 2008 for upload.

Sorry Jon, I transposed the two.
Aman 26 still needs to be updated - the S&S6 has been corrected and reposted.
My bad.

Good to hear that - the version of AMan 26 is still uncorrected, as far as I know.
-
I haven't had time to correct and post a corrected one Glam. Sorry.
I'll be announcing it here when it eventually happens.
-
Looking forward to it, Yoc. I think the story from Amazing Man #26 might be one of the few AM and Tommy stories that I haven't read (provided that Tommy appears in the story).

It wont be pretty KB but I'll do my best. I'll be working from digital camera shots taken from an angle. :(

:(
Bummer.

Ok gang, I've tried my hand at correcting the digital photos shared by G.A.tor on the Collectors Society Message Board. The final results are readable but I'm far from any expert on Photoshop. If someone else can do better please check the link provided earlier in this topic and share your results with us. GAtor's photos help us conclude that the previous Aman story shared by Richard B was not part of Amazing Man 26. GAtor also shared the second Meteor Martin story.
Enjoy!
