Title: Where could I find the WWII China Theatre comic books?
Post by: carmenjohn123 on June 12, 2011, 07:59:47 AM
There is a China Theatre in the WWII, and General Wedemeyer/Stilwell worked in China as the General Commander of USA Army. I read Wing Lee Boy Patriot of China, in which Wing Lee, a Chinese boy saved an American pilot and then later the pilot's father, one of the Flying Tigers(American Volunteer Group). I am not going to find Chinese language cartoons, I am looking for American WII comic books that dipicted the China Theatre(whoever American or Chinese in the comic books)

Do you know where I can get more Wing Lee series cartoons? e.g., where could I found Blue Beetle 023.

The only things that come to mind are "The Dragon" series (which was quite short) which were five page fillers in Issues #2 - #6 of "Doll Man Quarterly" and the "Green Turtle" stories in "Blazing Comics," which may or may not have been meant to depict a Chinese hero, but the Turtle does have a sidekick named Burma Boy and some of the stories take place in China. You can also search through the True Comics genre here, which probably do have a story or two based on facts that take place in the Chinese theater. Other than that comic book stories which were printed during World War II that featuring stories set in that neck of the woods will be few and far between. You'll find a lot of Anti-communist propaganda in the war comics that came to prominence during and after the Korean War but that's hardly the same thing.

The Green Turtle and Burma Boy were created by Chu Hing and appeared in Blazing Comics 1-5.  Since the artist didn't allow his face to be shown, many presume that he was, in fact, Chinese.   Blackhawk occassionally made it to China, and in fact managed to kill Genghis Khan...twice!  I think the Golden Eagle may have made it there once or twice in his brief career in Contact comics.
