For the "take a badly damaged book apart and put it in sheet protectors in a binder" trick. This is quite obviously a method of last resort. But it's turning the book I'm scanning now from "I'm going to destroy this book to scan it" to "I will have a perfectly usable reading copy- reference copy if I ever need to rescan" that I can enjoy without worrying about destroying whatever is left if I try to read it again.
Too often we get the hype on high grade books, or preserving what condition there is at the expense of not being able to enjoy what we have. Thank you, Jim, for reminding us about what's important with these books, and giving us a practical solution to those falling apart copies.

JVJ deserves an award for best comic book project, for allowing his extensive collection to be scanned.
Don't know what happened to the Alley Awards, but KUDOS to you, Jim!
Best,
Bob

I would like to personally thank JVJ for his contribution to the site.
The scans from his books will live on long after the cheap pulp that the comics are made of has crumbled to dust.
