Title: The worst (best) of the 1950's

Which comic book title from 50-55 would you say was the best representation of all that comics were banned for.  violence/sadist, bondage, headlights, etc...? 

I am trying to find out about more of the horror/sci-fi /crime/war from this time period. 

Mister Mystery seems like a contender.

I actually enjoys EC by far of all I have found (I have all 18 sets of The Complete EC Library) the most classic cover being Crime Suspenstories #22 & 23.

what do you think?

I think Thing was another good choice plus anything from Comic Media

I think this cover was the one that a congressman held up when they had those infamous hearings.

"Murder, Morphine and Me!" by Cole is one of the more intense crime stories from the era which had a panel used in Seduction of the Innocent (the classic needle in the eye one.)

Sadly we don't have that issue on DCM but it's been reprinted several times as you can see here:

Another publisher that is worth checking out is Canada's SUPERIOR who had three horror titles.

In Lawrence Watt-Evans short history of 1950s horror comics in Alter Ego #97 he sites Stanley Morse's titles Mister Mystery and Weird Mysteries as having some particularly notorious covers but also says this about Morse's Weird Chills- "In my decades of collecting and reading comics I think this may be the single most unpleasant title I ever read."
He sites in particular a couple of stories from Weird Chills #2 (which unfortunately is not yet available on DCM or GAC).

I just looked through Weird Chills one and two and they were very tame. A story that really got me when I was a kid was in a B&W reprint mag. A Nazi made gloves from human skin. You can figure at the end they arose with bony hands to get their revenge. Not sure what the original was or which issue it was reprinted in. Of course their model would probably have it appearing in a couple reprints then a couple more redos'
