SIMBA, THE AMAZON
PAGE ONE:
Caption: A jungle queen lives in the darkest jungle at Borneo's heart. The natives of the area worship her as a goddess and call her "Simba." No one knows where she came from, but she lives in a treetop cottage with a Chinese girl named Loto.
Frame One:
Caption: One morning . . .
Simba: AHOOO!
Frame Two:
Loto: That's Simba's call! I thought she was still asleep.
Frame Three:
Loto: Where is she?
Frame Four:
Simba: Here I come!
Frame Five:
Simba: Good morning, Loto!
Loto: The jungle sun's kind to you.
Frame Six:
Simba: What've you made for breakfast?
Loto: Fried python.
Frame Seven:
Simba: Wonderful! I'm starving!
Frame Eight:
Simba: Have you seen Tao?
Loto: No, he's late for breakfast. Is he over . . .
Frame Nine:
Caption: Tao is an enormous orangutan who Simba freed from a trap and who has become the girl's constant companion. He can understand and obey her commands [Translator's note: In Part Two of this four-part story arc, Tao is clearly machine-gunned down, yet in Part Three he gets up again as if he has just been sleeping. Another classic error of the times!].
Frame Ten:
Tao: GUEE...
Simba: You're always so friendly, Tao. What is it you're carrying?
Frame Eleven:
Simba: Another gift? Pay attention, Tao: On Sumday, some Kirvalan natives disappeared from their village.

Frame One:
Simba: What is this thing?
Frame Two:
Loto: It's a phonograph. A man's voice is recorded on the record.
Frame Three:
Simba: Show me how to use it!
Loto: Like this.
Frame Four:
Record: Love ya, love ya, honey . . .
Frame Five:
Simba: Wonderful . . . but I'll never leave my jungle! Why has poor Tao gone ape?
Loto: The answer's simple, darling. He's grateful to you for freeing him from that trap and allowing him to live freely in the jungle.
Frame Seven:
Simba: Throw that thing away, Loto! Our home may have been invaded by the Axis powers.
Frame Eight:
Simba: Go hunt quetzal, Tao!
Tao: Uurrh!

Frame Nine:
Caption: Simba and Tao leave their home by swinging on vines.
Frame Ten:
Simba: There's a plump quetzal.
Frame Eleven:
Simba: This one's mine!
Frame Twelve:
Simba: Damn! It got away!
Caption: The bow breaks in Simba's hands.
Page Three:
Frame One:
Simba: Tao, I've broken my bow, so I'll stay here while you go back. Understand:
Tao: Uuuuhh!
Frame Two:
Simba: While I wait for Tao, I'll take a bath.
Frame Three:
Simba: Looks like that tiger has the same idea. [Translator's note: Tiger's can swim, but don't usually bathe in real life!]
Frame Four:
Caption: The hungry tiger's decided to eat the easy prey.

Frame Five:
Simba: Tiger versus panther! This should prove to be very interesting.
Frame Eight: [Previous frames show Simba killing the tiger, and have no dialog or captions]
Simba: It's too heavy!
Frame Nine:
Simba: Good . . . it's breakfast time!
Frame Ten:
Loto: HELP!
Frame Eleven:
Soldier: Come with me, Chinese dog!
Loto: NEVER!

Page Four:
Frame One:
Soldier: You dare to struggle, wench? I'll kill you right here!
Loto: Pity!
Frame Two:
Simba: COWARD!
Frame Three:
Caption: Simba throws her knife at the attacker.
Frame Four:
Soldier: AAAAH!
Frame Five:
Loto: You came just in time, Simba! This dog wanted to kill me.
Simba: Who is he? There are no men allowed here!
Frame Six:
Loto: He's a Napkanese soldier.
Simba: Why now? You've been living in peace in the jungle
Frame Seven:
Loto: Read the newspapers Tao stole from the Kirvalans.
Simba: Clever! Somebody's camping at or near the cove.
Frame Eight:
Loto: I fear, Simba, that a company of Napkanese survivors are trapped in the jungle and claiming kingship!
Frame Nine:
Simba: Stay here, Loto - I won't be very long.
Frame Ten:
Simba: AHOOO!
Frame Eleven:
Caption: Tao hears his friend's call and rushes to her side.

Frame Twelve:
Simba: Take this man away, Tao!
Tao: Uuuh . . .
Page Five:
Frame One:
Simba: The Napkanese must've come by the road from Lo Alto. Better head for Las Lionas.
Frame Two:
Simba: We'll leave the body here.
Frame Three:
Simba: Careful, Tao! Listen to that noise!
Frame Four:
Simba: The Napkanese!
Frame Five:
Caption: Simba and Tao follow the Napkanese troop.
Soldier: Look, Sergeant - Here's Haka's body!
Frame Six:
Sergeant: The white woman! Wonderful! About face!
Frame Seven:
Simba: Courage, Tao! Go put fear in those soldiers' hearts!
Frame Eight:
Tao: UUUUGRRRH!!!
Frame Nine:
Sergeant: It's just an orangutan!
Frame Ten:
Soldier: I'm not so sure, Sergeant.
Sergeant: Shoot the beast and capture the woman!
Frame Thirteen: [The frames before this show Simba killing another soldier]
Simba: Tao, stop! They've got us!
Page Six:
Frame One:
Caption: The cruel soldiers corner Simba.
Simba: Take that, you demon!
Frame Two:
Soldier: She's just one woman! Fire!
Frame Three:
Soldier: She's killing us all!

Sergeant: She's too lovely to kill! Bring her back alive!
Frame Four:
Caption: The Naps manage to capture and disarm Simba.
Frame Five:
Soldier: Sergeant, let's take her to the Captain.
Frame Six:
Simba: Hands off, you animal!
Frame Seven:
Sergeant: Let's go back to camp!
Frame Eight:
Caption: The troop returns to their camp.
Sergeant: Is the Captain here?
Soldier: In his tent.
Frame Nine:
Caption: Captain Hayakawa came to the tropics to recapture Borneo, but was beaten back by the Allied Forces and has been in hiding in the jungle ever since.
Frame Ten:
Caption: Hayakawa likes to capture and beat the native women.
Hayakwa: I will use force to make you obey, woman!
Frame Eleven:
Woman: Forgive me, Senor!
Hayakawa: You'll get the stake for this!
Frame Twelve:
Soldier: Captain, Sergeant Tamura has returned.
Hayakawa: Send him in.

Page Seven:
Frame One:
Soldier: He's captured a white woman.
Hayakawa: White?
Frame Two:
Soldier: Yes, Captain, guilty of killing three of your men!
Hayakawa: Then bring her into my presence right away!
Frame Three:
Hayakawa: Outside the tent, slaves!
Frame Four:
Caption: Simba is brought to Hayakawa.
Hayakawa: I wish to be alone with her!
Frame Five:
Hayakawa: You are lovely.
Frame Six:
Hayakawa Thinks: What an extraordinary woman - and what a stunning figure. She's probably a Malayan spy!
Frame Seven:
Hayakawa: What were you doing in the jungle?
Simba: Hunting quetzal.
Frame Eight:
Hayakawa: You've killed three of my best men.
Simba: They were nothing but worms!
Frame Nine:
Hayakawa: Perhaps we should forget this unfortunate incident.
Frame Ten:
Simba: Never! [She calls him a "vile pig" in the original Mexican version. - A.W.D.]
Frame Eleven: So, you insult Captain Hayakawa, do you? Then you will die!
Frame Twelve:
Caption: Simba grabs Hayakawa's whip.
Page Eight:
Frame One:
Simba: Madman!
Frame Two:
Simba: So help me, I'll cleanse the jungle of you and your men if it's the last thing I do!

Hayakawa: Soldiers! To me!
Frame Three:
Hayakwa: Capture that woman!
Frame Four:
Simba: Let's go home.
Frame Five:
Simba: We can't leave Loto in Napkanese hands.
Frame Six:
Sergeant: I'll take her back to camp and hang her myself!
Frame Seven:
Soldier: At her.
Frame Eight:
Sergeant: We've recaptured her.
Frame Nine:
Hayakawa: I'll show you what happens to those who rebel!
Frame Ten:
Caption: Hayakawa orders his men to tie a Malayan woman to a stake and whip her.
Frame Eleven:
Simba: Repulsive beast!
Caption: The woman faints from the torture.
Page Nine:
Frame One:
Caption: Simba spits in the Captain's face.
Frame Two:
Hayakawa: You'll get the whip for this!
Frame Three:
Hayakawa: Take her to a hut and post a guard on her!
Frame Four:
Hayakawa Thinks: Now to think of a logical explanation for her mysterious disappearance.
Frame Five:
Simba: No time to waste, Tao!
Frame Six: The faithful orangutan has arrived in the nick of time.
Frame Seven:
Caption: Late that night . . .
Frame Eight:
Caption: Tao surprises and kills the guards

Simba: Untie me! Hurry!
Page Ten:
Frame One:
Simba: Escape is easy with the door down.
Frame Two:
Simba: We must sneak under this fence if we're to escape this camp . . .
Frame Three:
Caption: They head off into the night . . .
Sentry: Friend or foe?
Frame Four:
Simba: The sentry's spotted us - silence him!
Tao: Uuuuuuh!
Frame Six: [previous frame had no caption or dialog]
Sentry: SAKIAMUNI!
Frame Seven:
Caption: A soldier hears the sentry and runs to the barracks.
Soldier: Something strange is happening! To arms!
Frame Eight:
Caption: But Tao stops him.
Frame Ten: [no captions or dialog in previous frame]
Caption: The whole camp is alerted.
Frame Eleven:
Sergeant: Shoot to kill!
Page Eleven
Frame Two: [no captions or dialog in previous frame]
Simba: Hurry, before they raise the alarm!
Frame Four: [no captions or dialog in previous frame]
Caption: They leap over the fence and head for the safety of the jungle.
Frame Five:
Simba: Bravo, Tao! That's the way to do it!
Frame Six:
Simba: Now to return home. Poor Loto must be worried!
Frame Seven:
Simba: AHOOO!
Frame Eight:
Simba: Here we are!
Loto: I've made a pot of tea for you, Simba.

Frame Nine:
Caption: Simba tells Loto what has happened.
Loto: Hayakawa won't stop until he's King of the Jungle!
Frame Ten:
Simba: We must stop Hayaka and his tribe of cannibals!
Frame Eleven:
Loto: Good night, sleep tight!
Frame Twelve:
Loto: Tao, will you pour the tea?
Tao: Uuuuuh!
Page Twelve:
Frame One:
Caption: Simba decides to fight Hayakawa and his men to protect the jungle.
Simba: Loto, get me my bow, arrows and knife!
Loto: Do you foresee any danger, Simba?
Simba: The jungle must be free of the Naps!
Frame Three:
Loto: That's good. I worry about you, Simba.
Frame Four:
Simba: I want Hayakawa's head!
Loto: You're the jungle's protector, and I will serve you always.
Frame Five:
Loto: Simba kills all of her enemies. The jungle life is a cruel one!
Frame Six:
Simba: Tao, take me to the elephant's home!
Frame Seven:
Caption: Simba and Tao swing through the jungle.
Frame Eight:
Simba: We're here.

Frame Nine:
Caption: The elephant's grazing area.
Simba: Now to summon our big friends!
Frame Ten:
Simba: AAO-AO!
Frame Eleven:
Simba: I hope they're not late.
Page Thirteen:
Frame One:
Caption: The elephants answer Simba's call.
Frame Two:
Caption: Many of them appear.
Frame Three:
Simba: Tao, could you explain to the elephants why I need them?
Frame Four:
Caption: Using Tao as an interpreter, Simba gives the elephants their marching orders.
Frame Five:
Simba: I need a saddle!
Frame Six:
Simba: Okay, Hayakawa, here I come!
Frame Seven:
Simba: March!

Caption: While Simba and her elephants are marching on the Napkanese camp, Hayakawa decides to invade the ancient Punao village.
Frame Eight:
Hayakawa: I was a fool not to get any information from the woman.
Frame Nine:
Hayakawa: Sergeat Tamura, you will lead one of the batteries - and leave a guard back at camp.
Frame Ten:
Caption: Hayakawa marches his men down the jungle path.
Frame Eleven:
Caption: They march for several hours.

Frame One:
Caption: The village.
Frame Two:
Hayakawa: Ready the machine guns!
Frame Three:
Sergeant: The men or women first?
Hayakawa: Both, sergeant.
Frame Four:
Sergeant: FIRE!
Frame Five:
Woman: Uhh . . .
Frame Six:
Caption: The earth thunders as the warriors grab their weapons and rush into battle.
Frame Seven:
Warrior: Hail, my chieftain! They murder our women and children.
Chieftain: Get me my lance!
Frame Eight:
Hayakawa: The warriors are attacking. FIRE!
Frame Nine:
Chieftain: We're dropping like flies!
Frame Ten:
Caption: Hayakawa orders an attack on the village.
Hayakawa: Sweep down and kill every man, woman and child!
Frame Eleven:
Caption: To be continuted.
