Title: Thanks for recent scans!
Post by: BobS on October 12, 2010, 03:04:01 PM
Muggy-Doo is interesting and there's a 2nd IW issue that's been scanned.
Is Muggy-Doo art by Howie Post? (Yeah, Jim, I ought to check GCD before asking but maybe someone will want to make further remarks about Post.)
Thanks for uploading Muggy-Doo here.

Paper scans of most early Hit Comics aren't available.
Thanks for the c2c scans of Hit Comics 14 -- it's another great early Quality comic!

Thrilling Comics 8 paper scan is also very welcome. Early Better comics really show the transition of pulps to pulpy comic books.  Thanks!

Rangers Comics 42 - nice art and stories thruout! Thanks!

Mysteries Of Unexplored Worlds 004 -- Ditko stories I hadn't seen before! Thanks!

Cat-Man and Captain Aero -- thanks for some Holyoke scans!

Feature Comics 51 -- another great Quality comic! I wonder why Doll Man lasted so long -- being small isn't a very special super-power. Thanks!

Lightning Comics Vol II No 3 -- beautiful scans and I'm always glad to get scans of another GA Ace superheroes comic! Thanks!

Wings Comics - various issues recently posted- thanks! I prefer other Fiction House titles, but am getting more and more into the Wings Comics! I like the great covers (Lubbers etc.), pretty girls, and Greasemonkey Griffin!

For all the rest -- thanks! I download virtually EVERYTHING here!

Glad you enjoyed the Muggy-Doo Boy Cat humor books Bob.
I just found them, to bad #1 & 2 are only the one story,
(hopefully someone else will be able to scan those books c2c).

And the Wings Comics too, (I do have one more to be up'd,
have only to finish with the editing on it).

Looked like you scanned the Thrilling just in time -- the brittleness of the cover shows, but as far as I'm concerned the scans are superb!

Probably other folks won't agree with me but most of the time I don't mind the original owner's name written on the cover or minor writing inside.
Occasionally I don't even mind beards and mustaches etc. added a few place inside the books. That sort of stuff is just part and parcel of VINTAGE comic books.
Kids bought 'em, kids read 'em, kid's did what kids do with 'em.

Speculators / folks with more money than sense who pay hundreds and even thousands of dollars for 'em and are afraid to read 'em because they might decrease the 'value' of 'em -- those folks I just don't understand!

Back towards the end of the 1970s I realized that I couldn't afford to buy most of the GA comics and got rid of almost all of mine. I had Batman Comics 5 which was a little brittle, and I had become paranoid about it crumbling to dust like pulp paper naturally does.

I LOVE these old comics and MUCH prefer the scans to the paper originals!

Capitalism is based on scarcity of goods, but INFORMATION needn't be scarce! Free comic book scans are FANTASTIC!!!

Eric, thanks for ALL your scans!
I enjoy all the vintage Ace, Fox, Quality, Fiction House, MLJ, Fawcett, Holyoke, Centaur, Spark, etc. scans!!!

My father (RIP, born 1927) told me about The Clock, so I especially like to see the Clock scans in Centaur and Quality comics.

But I digress (as always).

Best to all!

I got the Muggy-Doo Boy Cat scans probably the same place you did.
From GCD, Irving Spector rather than Howie Post did the art.

That's good news, will be on the lookout for those when Jon has them ready for us.

I have many Cowboys 'n' Injuns, and Tick Tock Tales (which had some of the same features) to scan.  Any volunteers to edit?

I also have a large number of unscanned IW/Supers.

Volunteers can PM Jon on this.
