March 1941 with the first issue of Canada's first original comic - Better Comics #1 from Maple Leaf Publications in Vancouver. Yippee! There may hopefully be a facsimile reprint in the works.

Thanks for letting us know, that is a fun fact.
:)

Other fun facts, our Canadian Nelvana of the Northern Lights hit the stands some months before some chic named Wonder Woman :)
For those who want to read more about Canadian Whites (though some of them were in colour) historian/writer Ivan Kocmarek has posted many years of articles about them on the Comic Book Daily website at
https://www.comicbookdaily.com/author/ikocmarek/
Entertaining and educational!

We wouldn't have even gotten WW on the stands as American comics were banned as non-essential items during the war. But I like Nelvana.
Here's a link to Ivan Kocmarek's CBD article on Better Comics #1.

Thanks SuperScrounge, I meant to post links to LAC but dropped the ball. I've been reading the issues for several months. You can view them online, download them or print them out.
