Title: Complete Collections...
Post by: tbdeinc on February 15, 2011, 09:39:54 AM
Is there a way to discover what is a complete collection?

AND...

So far, it would seem I am 4 comics away from a complete Airboy collection.

v02 #12 (not complete)
v03 #03
v07 #09
v09 #06

Almost...

Absolutely TB.
A vital source of comics information (all ages, not just GA) is the Grand Comics Database (click here) (http://www.comics.org/).
It is searchable so just enter the name of the title and hit Search.  You can also search for publishers, artist, writers, even characters and story titles!

A few of our members here are on staff at GCD as well.

I've been on that site before...

But is it linked up to here?

How could I find out which set of comics listed here is a complete collection?

Or do I have to go back and forth between the sites to figure it out?
----and if I do, is there a way to take my discoveries and include "complete" in the title descriptions on DCM?
Title: Re: Complete Collections...

No, we aren't directly connected to GCD.
You would have to check our collection against the GCD entry to confirm exactly which issues are missing from a title.
We only list issues we have, not what is needed.

We do list how many issues were published for each title in their description section and TRY to update it to 'Complete Series!' when we finish one.  See the Avon section for example and search for 'Complete Series' there- http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?cid=1
 (http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?cid=1)
If you find we have a complete series and haven't updated the entry for it on DCM please let us know.

Thanks,
-Yoc

Shouldn't Black Diamond Western be marked complete?

Post by: narfstar on July 30, 2012, 03:21:27 PM
It looks like the only missing issue of Boy Comics is #40. What a long running series to be so close. I checked ebay but found the cheapest copy on Lone Star's www.mycomicshop.com if anyone is interested in getting it. https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?TID=328951   If no one else is willing or if someone pipes up that they have it, then I will go ahead and get it to complete the run. Would rather someone who really wants it get it though.

Hi Gang,
We haven't updated here in a while.
Today we've completed both Beyond (Ace), Scoop Comics (Chesler), The Spirit (Quality), Billy West, Out Of The Shadows (Better) and Heroic Comics (all versions) - congrats to all the scanners and editors out there!

We should really do a complete list of complete series sometime.

Even better would be what is needed. We only need two more issues of Boy Comics and others are close. What is needed can be helpful for those of us who scour ebay for cheap fills

That's a good point Narf - and a very daunting task!

BTW, I forgot to mention we also finished the Rangers Comics run (Fiction House) last October!

Keep'em coming folks, they (the scanners, editors and the folks that gave their books to be scanned) need to hear it please. It makes it feel a little better with a pat on the back, it can keep you going when you feel like stopping. Even just saying "hi" makes a difference.

Actually, it's a little-known sequel to Mike Baron's THE BUTCHER, followed by THE CANDLESTICK MAKER.
