Just finished talking with our server company and have requested a new server for the site. We will be upgrading to a higher spec server with more RAM and faster CPU. Only the best for DCM users.
The expected downtime will be 30minutes if upgrade process goes fine and after upgrade site will resume as normal.
Have not been given a time/date when the upgrade will take place so thought I would post this in advance so if site goes offline for any reason you know why.
I will post back once server upgrade is complete.
Server upgrade is now complete!

Thanks for the update!

Yes, it's nice to know in advance when there might be potential problems or down-time so that people don't panic.

Server going down fokes

We are back!!!!!
30min = 9 Hours downtime..... sorry all!
Had a few problems along the way...
First had to do a full reinstall of operating system and copy all data across. This took while since so many comic files to move across. During this process I had a nap also as due to long downtime I managed to grab 2 hours sleep last night.
Upon waking up I find the forum etc complaining of corrupt tables... after digging into the issue seems our tables do not like version 5.1 of mysql, had to force server to downgrade to 5.0 in-order to get database working.
It's been a long night, fun in places, but we got our new server now and a new faster hard drive....
THE END

Sorry for the mess Cap...
;D
but we have a new sparkly server
-
No worries.
Least it all working. Wasn't that bad as had old hard drive mounted as slave so could copy nearly all files and settings over to new hard drive. Just had to reconfigure/install some software that we use for website.
Not seen any errors yet so fingers crossed.

I was away for the whole move so it was painless on my side.
Thanks for all the amazing work you've been doing Capt.

Yes, you've been doing a great job with everything. 2 whole hours of sleep? You lazy lout!

I hadn't been online in a coupel of days and yesterday when I tried to visit, I got an error in IE that said site didn't exist. I thought to myself "well that sure didn't last very long". Good to see the site is back and running strong.

Are you sure you were in the right place? :)

Are you sure you were in the right place? :)
Quite sure. I tried both the forum and the museum and got the same result several times. Because I track so many sites, I don't type urls which leave room for typos. I bookmark all my sites from the first time I visit. The errors were coming from the same bookmark links I signed in with last night and today. I then shortened the url addy to just the .com with out the extra add ons after the slashes, and got the message that the site was down due to server transfer.

We were offline for a few hours ago the other day. You must have tried during that period.
-
That tends to happen to me on lots of sites. I think I'm jinxed.

When we did server upgrade the site was fully offline from midnight till 3am GMT.
After 3am I put up a page saying "site offline due to upgrade" and this was inplace until 9am when the site was put back online fully.
Site Offline page was just temp page so you guys knew what was happening.
