Title: Question about Dell: The Funnies comics
Post by: happyhuman on November 26, 2023, 06:28:13 AM
Hello, I wanted to ask, from what I've seen of the Dell The Funnies comics, its a reprint of sevral comics that were printed in other newspapers correct?

Then it is possible for the comic 'The Funnies' (say) issue 1 be in public domain but not its content, right? as the content is a reprint

I'm asking because I'm intresting in using page 19 - flapper fanny for a project and not sure if its in the public domain

Thanks in advance to any help given

It depends on what you are planning to do with Flapper.
If your project is any kind of scholarly book, you are very likely OK to use her.  Just include a copyright notice ie: 'Flapper Fanny copyright and TM the copyright owners'.
If you are planning to sell a collection of her stuff, it can get a lot more tricky and we always suggest getting a professional opinion.
