Well here's a few we don't have yet that I had saved. None of these are my scans by the way and all have been uploaded to the ftp in my folder. Not all are c2c, some are missing ads, back covers etc, but at least we'll have them for now.
Space Adventures 32
Space Adventures 33
Space Adventures 34
Space Adventures 35
Space Adventures 36
Space Adventures 37
Space Adventures 38
Space Adventures 39
Unusual Tales 11
Unusual Tales 15 (I think we have this one)
Fighin Air Force 26
These's should help fill some holes we have on/with them right now.
Go get them anytime your ready guys. Enjoy.
Geo
-
I don't see 'em yet, Geo, but I look forward to getting my hands on them!
nice work

Thank-you Geo but Please don't upload anything beyond Dec 1959 Ok?
I know there's been a long debate on the issue but I've made my own position clear among the admin-
I am Not comfortable making any exceptions beyond that date. I don't care if they are generally agreed to be public domain or not.
I'm not interested in this publisher and don't want to be involved in any debates on the matter.
If another admin wants to add those books onto DCM that's their call.
For now any post 1959 book I'll be moving into the Suspect Folder until another more informed and interested admin feels fit to make a decision on them.
Sorry if this sounds harsh but the other admin have already agreed that I shouldn't have to handle any books beyond that date. This isn't anything personal directed at you or any others trying to be generous.
Thanks for all the uploads!
-Yoc
-
Not a problem with me Yoc, you know that. I just looked up the ones missing from the list shown in the "JVJ Collection - Comics That Have Not Been Scanned" thread and thought they were ok, so that's why I uploaded them. Maybe we need to revise that list some what so this doesn't happen again.
Geo
-
I see lots of downloads and no one has mentioned this...
Unusual Tales 011 has a watermark. No disrespect, but I got the impression this was a big deal?
Unusual Tales 015 is exactly the same as the scan already here, as far as I can tell. Better twice than not at all, though.
That's all the tattle tales for today.
-
Thanks for the heads up Max.
Yes, watermarks are strictly a 'no-no' on the site. I didn't download any of these to check as I'm not a collector of the publisher.
Geo, yep, that JVJ Wanted List has been causing some confusion. I've already taken out some of the Dell offering. I guess I better do the Charlton as well.
In future, could you double check each file for watermarks, etc before uploading? Those 'GM' people had their fingers into several publishers. *sigh*
Take care all,
-Yoc

Web of Evil 019 October 1954 by Quality Comics have been up'd to the download site for all you horror fans. Not my scans, (scans were done by KARSWELL) and only one story scanned at this time (7 pages of story plus the FC and OSBC), but we didn't have any of it up yet, so it's better then not having it at all for now till we get the whole book. Enjoy.

Not a problem Builder, it's one of the things I thought needed to be done to make it easier to find things hopefully. It's going to take some time going through each publisher though. Please keep them coming, (and a little secret from me, I do the same thing posting up files, Yoc gave me a list of missing files from the site that have been posted up now, so you see I do do the same thing).

I remove that part from it.
A little bird told me it was so.
Geo
Geo, do you mean that you have removed the notation from the file whether it is fiche or not?
I was told there were some fiche books in the series, then it came about that there were none, so I removed the notation Builder. It had nothing to do with the last book itself.
Geo
-

Geo

Another one to added today (make that two now):

Geo
-
On the heels of Builderboys upload of a Wings Comics issue...
Wings Comics #114, 36 pgs c2c for your downloading pleasure.
These are raw scans except for the front cover, isfc, isbc and osbc which adjustments were done on,
the inside pages were just re-sized only after scanning, no other adjustments, looks great for a "Good"
rated book which was under $20 shipped and had a very moldy smell when I was scanning it. Please enjoy.
Another hole filled in the Wings Comics series!!
My next up will be a Harvey book which the scanning has already been started on.
Geo

Thx for the missing Wings! Moldy smells are reasonably 'natural'; I had a couple that reeked of gasoline... if there had been an open flame when I removed them from the bag, they might've become ashes. I had to leave them in the basement for a few days.

I hear ya Len, I could only scan 5 pgs. before the smell would get to me. I let it "air" out for a few days in a room we don't go into often, it wasn't to bad after that, but still I'd only scan 5 pgs at a time. Both Wings books were that way, very strong Mold smell with a white powder on some pages.

Thanks for exposing yourself to the Mold Menace for us Geo!
-
Not to much of a problem Yoc, both of the moldy ones are now done.
Also I'd like to thank prime user for his latest uploads:
Rod Cameron Western #11 and #16 with this second one I'm calling it a night.
These are the last for tonight, I still have five more waiting in the wings, two from Jon and three more from prime user,
these will be going up tomorrow afternoon after I get back. But at least we did get 6 new books tonight.
Not bad...
Geo
-
The two Rod Cameron Western's were uploaded the other day, so there are probably two of each now.
-
It looks as if #16 was doubled, so I removed it.
So it looks as if I'm caught up on things for the moment now as soon as I up Jon's two.
Also thanks goes out to dsdaboss for uploading Yankee Comics 004.
Geo
-
Yankee Comics! Sweet! :o :D
Thanks dsdaboss! Awesome stuff!

Harvey Hits #59 is my latest upload for your pleasure.
"Tales of the Invisible" Featuring Scarlet O'Neil August 1952 c2c.
This book concludes the Scarlet O'Neil detective series for Harvey Comics.
Invisible Scarlet O'Neil was an American comic strip written and drawn by Russell Stamm
and published by the Chicago Times. It ran from June 3, 1940 to 1956.

-
Tnx bchat, I'll remove it from the site.
Sorry gang. :(
-
Holly Crap Pioneer Pict Stories 6 took forever to scan... what a waste.. lol... oh well...
-
No worries RH.
It's now all over the net and I bet a Google for it would show it wasn't a wasted effort!
Keep up the great work!
:)
-
Ok folks here's the latest available for downloading now!!!
Fighting Yank 023 (c2c) was originally up'd by Freddyfly, now it's been reup'd c2c by rangerhouse.
Thank you rangerhouse for adding those missing pages and re-up'ing it.
Geo
-
I'm so glad that Fighting Yank #23 is now c2c. :D
Every issue takes DCM closer to having a complete run of that title (didn't know if that would be possible when I first started collecting FY). I think all we need is a complete #24, 19, 10, and 2-8.
-
I will scan Startling Comics #30 next it has a nice Fighting Yank WWII cover.
-
Sounds Great RH!
And if you have paper copies of any fiche scans here on DCM please consider them one day as well.
Keep up the great work!
:)
-
Thanks, RH! Can't wait to read it! :D
-
Another one from dsdaboss:

Geo

Dell 4C books aren't good for DCM gang. Licensed properties need extra attention before being proven in the PD.
Please do not upload anymore issues from this series, thanks.
-Yoc

Another for today:

Thought I'd give a sneak peak at what I got in my scanning pipeline for you folks right now with some raw scans:
Rocket Ship X (One-Shot even though it states a #2 issue on isfc):

NEXT (and this ones for Aussie500 since she posted up the other two issues we have here) these were cleaned up a bit, so there not raw scans as above were:

(http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/5333/sw40pg01isfc.jpg) (http://img191.imageshack.us/i/sw40pg01isfc.jpg/)
Anyway these will be coming to your computer screen soon, so be on the outlook for them.
Also sorry about the two last scans/pixs being so big, I didn't size them down enough.
Geo
-
Ohhhhhhhh, looks Sweet!
Looking forward to these Geo. I hope they weren't as mold as the last one!
;)

Both are non-moldy, in fact the Space Western is in "Fine" to almost
"NM-" grade, but that is not what I bought it at.
One or the other of these books should start showing up hopefully by
the end of this week if all goes right.
Geo

Thank you Snard, and if you see any of them before me, please post up about them, the ftp works for me as where to store them. Thanks again Snard.

Here we go again with the Feature Funnies/Comics duplication. Couldn't the Funnies (#1-20) be included with the Comics (#21 up)?
Also, it's 'Fritzi'.
Otherwise, happy December!

That was just the way it was set up Len before I was a Mod, (I do see your point on this, we do have another book with a name change that is in one category only, only causes problem when listed). Also corrected the name "Fritzi", I missed that when putting it up last night, did it just before I went to bed, so thanks for catching that.
I'm also looking into the Funny Animal thing, the two books without covers.
UPDATE: I'm going to leave it up for now and label it as a "different scan", someone had brightened the pages of the book I up'd before. Wish we could find out which issue it is though.
Geo

dsdaboss up this jewel for us:
Wonderwporld Comics #22
Thanks Dsdaboss for the up, it's very much appreciated.
Geo
-
Thanks for the Wonderworld issue, dsdaboss! :D
-
Yes a nice addition for sure.
No slight to dsdaboss, the scans are just great but typical of Fox the cover is the best thing about it.
Talk about sticking to a ridged grid! Six panel pages for everything.
Dr Fung had the best artwork and it wasn't much to talk about either.
-
New stuff for tonight for your enjoyment:
Wonder Comics #2
Treasure Chest v1 #4
Treasure Chest v1 #5
Treasure Chest v1 #6
Thank you prime user for the up's, much appreciated.

Talk about sticking to a ridged grid! Six panel pages for everything.
Dr Fung had the best artwork and it wasn't much to talk about either.
I think that's one of the reasons why I enjoyed the final issues of "Weird Comics" along with "The Eagle" among the Fox titles. It seemed like Lester Raye was trying to break out of the traditional format a bit, especially with the Eagle. And some of that experimentation carried over to the Green Mask stories in his own magazine.
But sadly, the titles were canceled soon afterward when Fox went under. :'(
-
By the way, I wasn't sure where else to do it, but I wanted to thank dsdaboss for both Startling Comics #4 and the incomplete Black Terror #4 -- two great titles that he added to the archives. ;D
-
I second the motion. dsdaboss has posted some very nice books

I remembered "inheriting" a few issues of "Humphrey" and "Little Max" (and a wide variety of other comics) when my much older brother got married a few weeks after he graduated from high school in 1954. Reading the issues Geo posted the other day was pretty nostalgic for me, although his issues were a bit older than the ones I vaguely remembered.
On the other hand, I'm not Catholic and I seldom saw issues of "Treasure Chest" save for a brief period in the very late fifties when one of my friends went to Parochial school and amassed a collection of them. The covers of the ones Geo posted, with the pirate covers were far older than any issues I had ever seen before.
Thanks for making all of those available plus the other issues you have posted in the past.
-
I have a few "newer" issues of 'Treasure Chest' that I will be posting up (ones with the "Sock" stories in them, not sure I have all of them though), be sure to check them out when I do, I'm sure you'll enjoy them.
Geo
-
Here's a few not given thanks for posting these up yet:
Popular Comics 092 (c2c)
up'd by PacificDragon.
Leroy 005
Broadway-Hollywood Blackouts 001
Broadway-Hollywood Blackouts 002
Bean Bags 001
Harvey Comics Library 002 (Blackmail Terror)
up'd by prime user.
Geo
-
I greatly enjoyed the "Blackmail Terror." I'm always amazed at how the Dick Tracy stories manage to balance humor and brutality without being too heavy on either element.
Can't say I've read the other books yet, but the Blackout books look like interesting curiosities.
Thanks,
As Usual
-
Thanks very much for Tormented #2, Geo! :)
Love the old pre-code horror comics!

I can't help it. I read the title "I Gave My Lips Too Freely!" and I'm thinking, "And then I gave my eyes! And my nose! And my ears! And..."
Kind of like how I felt when I introed a song thusly: "Here's Karla Bonoff with 'Somebody's Eyes'! Hey, I know they're not *mine*..."

Buster Crabbe 005, c2c, 36 pages.
This is a book I thought would never ever see the light of day here, due to the scarcity and price of the book. But due to the diligently of OtherEric, we now have this rare piece of art. I can't thank OtherEric enough for buying this book and then letting me scan and edit it. Even Al Williamson himself (who's art along with Frank Frazetta (front cover and inside art), and Roy G. Krenkel (backgrounds) on the first story) stated he didn't know why this book commanded the price it did in an interview with Darkmark years ago.
So please enjoy this amazing share.
Geo
-
Great job Geo and Eric.
Thanks very much for bringing this expensive treasure to the general public.
-
Overstreet says the story is actually by Williamson-Krenkel-Orlando, not Williamson-Krenkel-Frazetta. Not sure exactly what their source is, other than they say that's what Williamson said somewhere.
Anyway, everybody else, enjoy the book. It's an absolutely beautiful piece of work, which really counts as the unofficial first Frazetta Buck Rogers cover and unofficial first Williamson Flash Gordon story. (Buster Crabbe was, of course, the actor who played both Buck and Flash in serials.) The writing, not so spectacular. But it looks amazing.
My huge thanks to Geo for the wonderful work he did making my copy look so good. Even if he did suggest I would regret it if I didn't let him do the scans & edits when he heard I had located an affordable copy. ;D
-
Thanks Eric, I wasn't totally sure on the inside art, I knew Al Williamson and Roy G. Krenkel, but not the third person involved with it. Added this info to the download page.

Geo

Jim is right about Morisi, this issue also have a 4 page story by Joe Maneely, for those who like his art :)
Maneely must have done this in period after the Atlas Implosion when he wasn't getting any work from Stan Lee. He also popped up in some DC titles at this same time ( I remember in particular a Gang Busters story or two).
Best
Joe
-
Just want to give thanks to Prime User for uploading a bunch of "Fixed" files. Thank you.
Geo
-
Given a couple more issues that I know are on the way, I will probably post a Maneely at Charlton collection before too long. Based on the best list I can find we're only going to be missing one story here soon...
-
I can perhaps ask DocV, an expert on Maneely, for a list of all his Charlton works if you like Eric.
Let me know when you'd like to pursue the project.
-
I would love to have such a list, Yoc. I'm going off what info we have at the GCD, which as we all know can be incomplete. (I've found two cases with stories attributed to "Maneley", not Maneely, for instance.
-
I'll see if I can get it.
JVJ here is much closer to DocV though.
-
Another Charlton added: Six Gun Heroes 047 c2c (JVJ Geo), July 1958.
Scans and edits by Geo from a JVJ Collection book.
Please enjoy.

Thanks for the Six-Gun. :) Btw when I dl'd the book noticed a 16 meg tiff file of the back cover included with the file for some reason.

It features paper & fiche copy of Captain Marvel Adventures #24, which was scanned by ALV910, added missing pages from Darkmarks fiche copy.

Please enjoy.

Atomic Mouse v1 012 has now been up by cooperway4.
Thanks cooperway4 for the upload.
Geo
-
Cool. I had no idea my posts were even being mentioned in the forums until now. I also uploaded Atomic Mouse #12 to the Internet Archives and tried to add a mirror, but it didn't go through. Any suggestions of how to get that to work? It was a direct link so it should have just launched the download without going to the Archives. And before anyone wonders, I'm not associated with nor do I approve of WebComicUniverse uploading DCM files and adding their own logo page to the scans.
-
Thanks for your uploads Cooper. Feel free to start your own uploads topic if you like. No need to be shy here.
I've just used the Mirror link to link to the page where the actual download link is. I've never tried a direct link except to file sharing sites that share links designed for it like Mediafire.

We now have one from colescomics, it's only 3 pages but we didn't have this issue before, Famous Funnies 55 (War on Crime only), it's a start anyway.
Thanks to colescomics for this.

One more from colecomics, this time it's Famous Funnies #57 (War on Crime only).
Thanks colecomics.

I see no Buck Rogers in Famous Funnies #55, so it's okay to upload the whole issue, right?

OK, here are a few new ones to check out:
Operation Peril 016 (Diff Ver.) from chuck006
Heroic 015 (inc 11 pp Music Master Only) from colescomics
Thanks people.
Geo
-
There is absolutely NO Buck Rogers in scan of Famous Funnies #55 that I have (as I said before). Page count reveals 64 pages whereas the book should be 68 pages. Looks like the 4 Buck Rogers pages were either removed or were missing from the book scanned. Is it okay to upload the 64 pages that do not contain Buck Rogers stories?
-
Ok Cooper, upload it. We just have to keep Buck off the site.
Thanks. :)
-
Okay here it comes.
I got confused because there are 68 pages because there's 2 joins that have single page, join, single page. They are text stories. So I counted 68 pages and saw no Buck Rogers as I said when I asked. Obviously I knew Buck Rogers was not allowed as I made it a point to say there was no Bock Rogers. The 2 joins added 4 pages to the page count as they were both single and double pages, so I thought the book was complete. I then noticed there was mention of Buck Rogers on the cover and that's when I noticed the repeat pages due to the joins.

Jungle Comics #139 (inc)-now 26pgs

Are these scans your own or found online somewhere?
Just curious

No, I scrounged for them online. I had to clean them up a bit.

Hi Bim
If cleaning includes a watermark of some kind best not to use them.
Just saying.

Geo
I added a comment on the scan, but maybe no one noticed it. Anyway... the original description for the scan says:
"Unknown issue #; Scanned by narfstar from a coverless copy. Stories were later reprinted in I.W.'s U.S. Fighting Men #18."
My comment was:
"According to GCD, I.W. U.S. Fighting Men #18 reprinted the stories from U.S. Fighting Air Force #6, so that's probably the issue number of this scan."
While GCD is far from perfect, maybe we can trust it on this one & label that scan as issue 6 instead of [nn].

Ok Snard, I've updated the entry.

Thanks Snard always good to identify the unkonwn

Here are a bunch from the CB+ site that we didn't have yet, first 4 were up'd by Cooperway4 and Thunderbolt Jaxon was from Paw Broon

Wonder Boy #18 (Ajax-Farrell)
Women Outlaws #1 (Fox)
Rags Rabbit #13 (Harvey)
Thunderbolt Jaxon 01
Thanks guys for finding these.
Geo

Hi Geo,
I just looked and all but Thunderbolt were already on the site in the sections you added them to.
I've removed your duplicate versions.
-
Rest assured, anything I up over at CB+ is either already here or I'm in the process of uploading it here. Just playing catch-up on all those months the uploader wasn't working over there. :)
Oddly there are some files I've had to upload 3 times over the years. They seem to keep losing stuff. :(
-
We sure appreciate your patience and diligence and it should not happen again. CB+ now has a programmer at the helm. GAC had a major crash then a sabotage by a disgruntalled rogue programmer for hire.

For the DCM Archives and Collections section we have Bill Wayne, The Texas Terror, thanks to mask84.

Guys, as before, those Mary Marvels are from modern DC reprints. We've pulled them down before.
Thanks anyways. They are gone now.
-
Snard,
When I originally uploaded these in 2011, I got an pm from yoc, stating the darkmark had advised him he scanned them from a fanzine and that they were reprints.
movielover
-
So that said... if someone creates a fanzine by scanning actual public domain comics, and you then scan pages from the fanzine, are you breaking the law?
In theory, no, provided there's nothing involved with the copy that the courts might consider creative work done.
That's why we usually say no thanks. There's no way to know if--for a borderline example--part of a page was drawn carefully for practice and whether a judge would consider that creative (keep in mind that, if I were able to paint and painted an exact replica of the Mona Lisa, I'd have the copyright on my replica, no question).
Professional reprints, for example, almost always recolor and adjust the line art.
There's also neighborliness. We do generally try not to share scans if it's not clear the scanner meant them to be shared. This would be one of the few cases where that would really matter.
-
I've asked DM to look at this topic and maybe comment.
-
Those are scans of mine that I made from some Mary Marvel Fanzines. That means they're from reprints and they are not to be shared here. Sorry, guys, I know you'd love those too, but you can't get them here. And since this is the 2nd time we've had to pull them, let's clue newbies in or keep an eye out for these, okay?
-
Thanks for the explanation DM. It would be nice to have a note in them for the DC++ people but everyone with an old copy would still be sharing them.
And there's no easy way to prevent well meaning uploaders for uploading them here again... until we get a new version to fill the holes here.
Oh well, the staff will try to keep them off but if they get added again someone here let us know!

Just added Jo-Jo Congo King #17 to finish up the series.
Please enjoy.
Geo

Actually we still need a few issues of Jo-Jo.
But thanks very much Geo. :D
-
Many thanks, G!
(It was the last Completely-Missing issue; 16 is very partial; 9 is fiche; and 21 is small)
-
We're not quite finished. That "Jo-Jo #16" is just two reprinted stories. Thanks, though!
-
Just up'd, Space Western #045, this one is for you Len. Next one on the list will be S.W. #41 to finish this series. Please enjoy.
- Geo
-
Cowboy Western got changed to Space Western for six issues. Then the title changed back.
The recently posted Cowboy Western #46 has a couple of "Space" inventory stories in the back.
Space Western is said to have been created and written by Shadow scribe Walter B. Gibson.
-
Geo Thanks for the SW45!
If you have a copy of #44 too, that issue needs an upgrade desperately.
That I do K, I'll do that one after #41 is finished. I have a copy of the whole Space Western series (#40-45).
erwin-k I knew it was Cowboy Western before issue #40 and that it changed back to Cowboy Western on issue #46, I was only talking about the Space Western series. Thanks for your update info on the series, it is allway welcome.

The latest from me for the month of "Love" is one I've had for sometime now. My Romantic Adventures #86. It includes 3 pages of Al Williamson art, this is the second romance art done for ACG Comics as Al didn't feel comfortable doing romance along with horror art at this time in his life. Please enjoy.
- Geo
-
Thanks Geo!
-
Geo, thanks, that's one less book for me to scan at the LOC next trip. However, unless you really feel you want 'em for your hard copy collection I would advise that, aside from a couple stragglers (My Romantic Adventures 132 and Lovelorn 29), no one needs to buy any ACG Romance books for scanning as they will all be covered in my next LOC run.
-
Thanks --, as I don't have those, don't worry I'll let you take care of those for us.

My lastest upload: Captain Atom 003, 52pgs c2c 1951.

Some great art in Strange Worlds #3. Thanks to all involved.
I'm always interested to see work by Sid Greene. His style was always evolving. I first knew his work at DC for Julie Schwartz. He inked a lot of Gil Kane and drew S-F stories like the Star Rovers series. Then I picked up a circa 1942 issue of Target Comics with his signed work on the Target. A huge difference in style.
The story in SW #3 is recognizable as a transition between the those eras.

Hi Erwin, Greene is a name I noticed but I've never followed. I'll have to compare this to the Target work you mentioned.

What I noticed was his heavy-handed inking jobs done for DC over any of the pencil artists, I just didn't care for it. Now his work for in Strange Worlds 03 (AVON), now that I like. He also inked the last story in that issue.
