Pictured with TV show cast members John Astin (b. March 30, 1930), Ken Weatherwax (September 29, 1955 – December 7, 2014) and Lisa Loring (b. February 16, 1958).

Charles Addams
(January 7, 1912 – September 29, 1988)
Addams was known for his eccentric cartoons, which were all characterized by a sinister sense of humor. He worked in The New Yorker from the mid 1930s throughout the 1980s.  His most famous creation is 'The Addams Family' which was turned into a TV show from 1964-66.

#9 - 1975-Angela Bowie and Ben Carruthers as Black Widow and Daredevil
Angela Bowie tried to get a Black Widow TV series off the ground in 1975—and enlisted actor Ben Carruthers to wear the Daredevil costume.

Pat and Dick Lupoff early publishers and writers of noted Xero fanzine, contributed to fanzines and books on comics.  Xero presented essays about comics ultimately collected in a great 1970 book, All in Color for a Dime

Dick (born February 21, 1935), would move on to become a successful sci-fi and mystery writer.  In addition to his two dozen novels and more than 40 short stories, he has also edited science-fantasy anthologies.

#12 - 1971-Mike Zeck as Marvel's Blackbolt
Picture from the 1971 Comic Art Convention in New York - Phil Seuling’s annual show - thanks to a young man who shot several rolls of film and held onto the negatives.

Mike Zeck (b. 6 September 1949), a comics fan from Florida who had dreams of getting a job in the industry as an artist, which he eventually did do. He competed in the show’s costume contest as Black Bolt and won first prize!

He is best known for his work for Marvel Comics on such series as Captain America, Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars, Master of Kung-Fu, and The Punisher as well as the "Kraven's Last Hunt" storyline in the Spider-Man titles.

#13 - 1973 Russ Cochran (Wizard) with Don Newton (CM)
Taken at the 1973 Houston Con costume pageant.
Russ is most famous for his wonderful EC reprints line started in the 70s.  Don Newton started out in fandom as a popular fanzine artist and worked his way up to a pro artist for Charlton, DC, and Marvel Comics.  He is best known for his work on The Phantom, Aquaman, and Batman.

Don Newton
(November 12, 1934 - August 19, 1984)
A comic fan from a young age he eventually became an art teacher in the mid–1960s. 
Newton became involved with the Science Fiction and Comics Association (SFCA) and became a staple in the organization's publications. Between 1968 and 1973 he produced almost two dozen covers for the Rocket's Blast Comicollector and many interior illustrations. In all Newton’s work appeared in over one hundred fanzines.

Newton won the Comic Fan Art Award in 1973 in the category "Favorite Fan Artist".

In 2011, DC published Tales of the Batman: Don Newton, a hardcover collection of Newton's Batman stories.

#15 - 1987 Gene Simmons as Jon Sable
Before Gene Simmons became a rock legend from KISS, he was quite involved in fandom writing several things for various fanzines.  We'll read more about those days in a future update.  But here Simmons was tried as the lead in a failed 80's TV pilot based on Mike Grell's Jon Sable, Freelance comic.

Editor and fan Pat Lupoff, 81, died October 18, 2018. She co-edited the influential fanzine Xero with husband Richard Lupoff and Bhob Stewart. Xero won a Hugo Award for Best Fanzine in 1963, making Pat Lupoff one of the first women to win a Hugo.
