Title: Cracked Crack and thrilling fix
Post by: freddyfly on October 31, 2017, 12:10:38 AM
Hi,
Could you fix the Admin Review for Quality's Crack Comics #5? A bunch of strange characters appear, and when I try to cut & paste them my editor freezes.

Thx for fixing my Thrilling #3 upside-down page, athough you threw me off by calling it page 48 (which counts the fc as pg#1) instead of 46 (which counts from the actual page 1). When I checked my scan, 'page 48' was ok, but I checked nearby pages and found it was pg46 that was wrong.

I wonder if we are going to find more with this problem, a while back I found and fixed a few with this same problem. Not sure what the problem is that started it happening. Will fix any as I run into them.

No problem, I have now gone through and hopefully removed all those weird characters from admin reviews.

Going back to the earlier comment "I was going by standard scanning practice which counts the cover as page 1,"...
Is there a 'standard' scaning practice? I always start with page00fc... page00ifc... page01..., with, of course, the comic's name & number in place of 'page'.

A few publishers did number pages starting with the fc (eg fawcett, street&smith) for a while, but most used the standard 1-64, and page numbers mostly diappeared when comics began shrinking.

I've seen that some scanners do use generic scan01, scan02 etc...; maybe it's easier that way, but is it a 'standard', or just the default way that scanning software numbers scans? To me, 'scan01 and 'page01' are two different things.

The wonderful thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from.

One of the interesting things I've found about naming conventions for scans is that I can often tell who scanned/edited a book by how the files are named. What prefix (if any) does each filename start with? Do they start numbering from 1 or 0? Do they include the covers in their numbering, or append fc/ifc/etc to the covers? Do they pad the file numbers to 2 digits or 3? The list goes on and on...  Of course some people make it easy by including a tag file.
