Good western comics for game development
« on: March 10, 2019, 01:10:36 PM »
I hope you can help me with this.

I'm planning to develop a computer game based in the Old West and I would like to use some free graphical content to prototype it. And using old, public domain comics is an excellent way to do it in a really cost effective way.

I've been looking around but I prefer to check with the experts, so... could you recommend some comics that:

  • have good graphic quality
  • have a good amount of different characters, in different situations
  • scanning quality is not so important

 Many thanks.

Prize Comics Western (Prize Comics Group) in the 1950's had a variety of characters. This even included some positive Native American characters. Good art by John Severin and many others.

Magazine Enterprises published a ton of westerns. Lots of good art there, including Bob Powell at his best. Even Frank Frazetta contributed to White Indian.

Thanks, I've downloaded Prize Comics and I'm highly impressed. Let me continue with the downloads...
