SuperScrounge:
Well there is a story about Gaines going back on a deal with the guy who sold him the idea for doing horror comics. Which, if true, doesn't make Gaines look so nice.
On the other side, there is a story of Gaines sending Ghastly Graham Ingles a royalty check and Ingles sent it back* and Gaines told him that if he didn't take the check it would ruin Gaines' bookkeeping. ;-)
* He sent the check back because Ingles was afraid people would wonder where the money came from and learn of his horror comics past.
IIRC the guy who ran Magazine Enterprises (Vincent Sullivan?) was considered to be a good guy.

Not certain if it's blameless, but rather clearly whether one "distributing organization" gets sued the majority of the organization's advantages are in danger so numerous organizations were an approach to constrain potential cash lost in a claim, in the event that I review effectively.

Most of the GA interviews that mention him seem to show Alfred Harvey in a pretty good light. Joe Simon had plenty of run-ins with shysters and always seemed to have positive things to say about Harvey as I recall.
I believe that Lev Gleason and Archer St. John also had solid reputations for being fair - and Gleason shared the profits with Biro and Wood, at least at first.

Hi Kozmo,
Funny you should mention Lev Gleason. He will be making an appearance in the next batch of Anti-Comics Hysteria pictures coming later this week. It will up tomorrow on the DCM Facebook page if you want it sooner.
Archer St.John put black superstar artist Matt Baker in charge of his line in the 50s. Sadly he died of an apparent overdose of sleeping pills, August 12, 1955.
