Original source unknown.  Caniff seemed to love getting his picture taken.  This is one of many I've found.  Here he is with Joan Crawford who could bare some resemblance to his Dragon Lady.


#3 - 1965.11-David Crosby reads Avengers
Original source unknown.  David Crosby of Byrds and CSN&Y fame reading Avengers (Marvel,) #22 (November 1965).


#4 - 1966.09-Bob Crane of Hogan's Heroes

#12 - James Brown reading Werewolf By Night
Shared all over the net.  From the documentary, "When We Were Kings" JB is reading Werewolf by Night (Marvel) #23 (November 1974).


#13 - 1975-Three Stooges promo shot
This one is a 1975 publicity shot for what would have been the last stooges lineup for their comeback movie "Blazing Stewardesses". Moe Howard, Joe DeRita and newcomer Emil Sitka are reading Three Stooges #7, 14, 6.  A short time after this shot, Howard fell ill and died and the Stooges were replaced by the Ritz Brothers in the film.  More pics with the last new Stooge can be seen here: https://ciplatadalafil.info/Three-Stooges-Emil-Sitka.html

#1 - 1968-Adam West
Here's some Batman TV show shots.

#2 - 1968-Eartha Kitt as Catwoman
1968 - Eartha Kitt (born Eartha Mae Keith, January 17, 1927 – December 25, 2008) as 'Catwoman' from the set of Batman. A  singer, actress, dancer, activist, author and songwriter she is mostly known for her distinctive singing style, began her career on stage back in 1943. She is also widely known for her role as Catwoman in 1967. She had six US Top 30 hits in the 1950’s.


#3 - 1977.07.28-Mike Douglas, Phil Seuling, Wendy Pini, and Jamie Farr
From July 28, 1977.  This is a unique one.  Phil was running a popular comic convention in NYC and Wendi would later become the artist/co-creator the beloved and successful independently published 'Elf Quest' series in the 1980s.

#8 - 1983.04-Brooke Shields reading Superman
This pic ran in Dick Giordano's 'Meanwhile...' column for DC's April 1983 cover-dated books.

Brooke--at the time a really huge star--was lending her fame to a PSA program trying to keep kids from smoking. Apparently there were kits put together to be given out in school, called "Super Kits", and starring guess who of the DC Universe. It even mentions TV commercials featuring Brooke and Superman, but I sure don't remember seeing any of those. I'd love to find one of the kits on ebay to see what it was all about.

Sorry, I forget where this one comes from.  Bill Mumy is of course famous for being the youngest member of the 'Lost In Space' Robinson family.  Turns out he's a big time collector from the looks of this 1989 photo.

#11 - 1996-Nicolas Cage at rest -Staedler
Born Nicolas Kim Coppola, Cage is a well known huge fan of comics.  Picking his stage name Cage from a favourite book of his as seen on his lap in this pic.

#12 - 1999-Simon Pegg in a still from 'Spaced' tv show
A still from the wonderfully funny 'Spaced' tv show on Channel 4.  It would launch Pegg into movies like 'Shaun of the Dead' and as Scotty in the new Star Trek movies.

This comic shop scene was filmed in Richmond, a London suburb in a store was They Walk Among Us.  Store owner Jon Browne relates the filming in a comment to a video clip reshared on the DCM Facebook page.  He can be credited with the good taste to place all those EC reprints on the wall behind Pegg.


#13 - 2001-Julius Schwartz and Ray Bradbury
Here are Schwartz and Bradbury at a 2001 convention appearance.  Schwartz was Bradbury's first agent back in 1941 getting him published in pulp magazines.


#14 - 2003-Ringo Starr with Stan Lee on drums
Starr and Lee were said to be thinking about doing a comic together with Ringo as a character.  No idea if it happened.

#15 - 2004-Kevin Conroy from Wonderful World of Animation at Comic-Con
