Craftint Color Printing process explained

A Brit on the Yahoo Platinum Age Comics group has been dissecting color comics printing processes in exhaustive detail for some time and finally tackles the cheap, no-union-labor-required Cratint process that made the whole golden/silver/bronze eras so special. Also reveals why the current re-colored reprints usually look and feel so wrong.

This is a superb resource. It explained a lot of things I've wondered about for a long time. I had no idea Craftint of the Doubletone board was related to newspaper comic coloring.

I used a lot of Craftint board years ago. The developer gave off an ammonia smell. I still have a few bottles left but the liquid has evaporated leaving a few crystals. I admire the Craftint work of Roy Crane and Leslie Turner. Used well it was an incredibly versatile tool.
