I believe there are some SMF forum addons that will allow you to choose your colour scheme.  Wouldn't surprise me if you can set your text size as well somewhere.

We aren't done by a long shot on this.  We've put off jumping to ver2 for a loooong time and there's a lot of things to sort and consider.

Yep, the text is a bit smaller then it was on the old forum. I'll have to search around and see if I can find where it's at, besides the message area.
Looking great so far.

Cap is the download site going to change it's format to?

Not planned right now.

Forum look is default theme from SMF version 2 so this is reason forum looks different than old look.
