I've been wanting to digitize my copy of Couples and Leon's Bringing Up Father #2 from 1919 since the day I bought it 14 or 15 years ago now. It measures 10" by 10", so it's too big for my scanner. Even the printed area of the strips is 8.5" by 9", not counting the title at the top or the copyright at the bottom. I took some photos a few years ago, but neither my camera nor my setup were producing results I was happy with. I finally put the book back under the camera (a better one - a Nikon D5100) tonight with a much better setup, and much cleaner results. Or as clean as digital photos of an open book on a table can be. The thing is, while the linework is clean and clear and the pages are reasonably flat, they're still photos of an open book on a table so they are distorted. Unfortunately, I don't have time to edit them how I want to and know they should be, so I thought I would see if anyone here wants to help me out. There are 52 photos, and I can send them either as RAW (.nef) files (best quality) or go ahead and convert to JPGs. If there are no takers, then I'll go ahead and upload the unedited version in hopes that either someone will want to work with it in the future, or that I will have the time and inclination to someday. (But I only foresee my schedule getting busier as my business continues to grow.)

Also, does anyone know where I can get something good to store the book in? Right now I have it in a large Hefty freezer bag. I'm sure that's far from archival safe, but some protection is better than none.

If nobody else step up I'll tackle it Eric.  Sorry, I can't help on the storage question.

If you wanted to upload it to the ftp we can go from there.

Do you want the camera raw files or JPGs? The raw files are 914 MB. The JPGs are 508 MB.

By the way, I tried to check periodically while I was photographing the book to make sure the photos were sharp, but I didn't check all parts of every page. If you see something that looks too blurred, just let me know and I'll re-shoot it.

Will do Eric.  Downloading it now.

BTW, if you have any other books you wanted scanned but don't have time Rangerhouse here has been scanning books for several others and would be happy to help if wanted.
No pressure of course.

Take care,
-Yoc

Hmm, perhaps I should send off my copy of Mr. and Mrs.

http://www.comics.org/issue/763271/

to somebody with a big enough scanner to handle it.

Not a case of time, it's just too big for my scanner.

I've finished the edit of Eric's Couples and Leon's Bringing Up Father #2 from 1919.  It will be part of the big DCM 5th Anniversary event coming March 28th!
