Anyone know the artist of this pencil comic strip?
JGray:
I've sent an email to a collector of original comic strip art. Hopefully he has some ideas.
kat123:
thanks JGray I hope someone brings this artist to the light. :)

looking for any other info looks like this strip was drawn in 1958, That's when Ted Williams signs for big money contrat with Boston Red Soxs.
For a minute I though it was a Eddie Germano strip, he was a sport cartoonist and drew some Ted Williams strips.
but after searching for his pencil style looks like my strip was not by Eddie Germano.

JonTheScanner:
Williams reportedly signed for $100,000 in 1949 and had that salary (which was effectively the salary cap in baseball) for a decade. So if the headline is accurate, this would have to date from the late forties after he returned from the war, I assume.
ETA:
Actually according to this site: http://roadsidephotos.sabr.org/baseball/bb02-5.htm
Williams' salary was never $80,000, so the headline can't be accurate. If the artist/writer did know about what it was though. I'd guess it dates from the 1960 season when it was known Williams was taking a cut or late 40's -- one or the other.

thanks Jon for your info, looking at this graded Ted Williams card and the image of him swinging looks really similar like the strip image could this had been a swipe of the card from 1954?
