Weird Mysteries #12
« on: August 26, 2013, 04:25:22 AM »
Hello,

I was just wondering if the 12th issue of the Key Publications/Gilmore title Weird Mysteries is considered public domain. I cannot seem to locate a scan of it. Could someone please post it if it is PD or point me in the direction of a cbr, cbz or pdf of it? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

It is a PD book, but it has not been scanned as of yet. So, you will just have to wait and hope somebody picks it up someday and scans it.

I don't see that one on the LOC search page either so I don't expect it will show up anytime soon.  That's an expensive book.

Just curious, but what's so special about issue #12?... beside its being the last one needed to complete that title run here on DCM.

Am I wrong to assume that it's rarity has more to do with poor distribution in the months leading up to the code than anything else?

I'll take the lack of friendly banter from you folks as an unequivocal affirmation to my previous presumption.  :)

Because I was curious... and sadly have nothing better to do with my life, right now anyway... I happened to check my newer old copy of Overstreet (2006 Ed.).  As jrvandore has mentioned WM #12 is indeed all reprint material and DCM does have two of the books from which that material was taken (WM #3 and Weird Tales of The Future #6).  The third book is Mr. Mystery #8, which by the looks of it might be more pricier to acquire than WM #12... at least on the face of it, from comparing the pricing data from the OPG.

Hi D,
Thanks for the info.  Tilliban has recently met a fellow German precode horror fan and tells us we are in for some fun.
No idea if this issue will be one but any new precode horror is fun in my book!
