Any body recognize this artist?

EddieCampbell:
Just out of curiosity.
I'm attaching three splash pages from romance books from 1953. One's a Quality book, the other two are from St. John. The artist keeps drawing the same girl's face in big close up. I first saw this artist in a page posted by Harry Mendryk in his history of the Simon and Kirby Romance comics for Prize. He drew the same girl's face there too. Harry couldn't I-D the artist. Anybody else got an idea?

I haven't tried attaching pictures here before. let's see if it works.

EddieCampbell:
I said 'He' but of course it could be a 'She.'

sorry.

darkmark (RIP):
I would say that's a "she" but I don't have WOMEN IN THE COMICS anymore, so I can't do an ID.

EddieCampbell:
Are you thinking of Valerie Barclay? (The attached image is one that Lambiek attributes to her)

Something that Mark Evanier wrote in his obit for Barclay made me want to be careful about assigning her the style of those pages:

<i>"She didn’t have that distinctive or consistent a style and a lot of what has been identified as her work was clearly done by Chic Stone, who worked for Timely at the same time. Someone needs to research this better than I can."</i>

darkmark (RIP):
Valerie is a good guess.
