artist Allen Bellman works?
holyd490:
Hello,
Allen Bellman is a golden age artist who is actually pretty active on the convention scene. His site is www.allenbellman.com
He did a lot of work for Timely/Marvel in the 40's. I know none of that is in here or public domain.
but, he also did work for Lev Gleason. I have a copy of Boy Meets Girl #4, with a credit to him. I can't find much of any Lev Gleason work credits in databases, etc.
Anyone know anything about what books he might have been in? I'd like to one day do a "best of" collection if at all possible, working with Mr. Bellman and my publisher, Lamp Post.
Titles he is believed to be in:
Daredevil Comics [not marvel's, of course...]
Boy Meets Girl [confirmed, by credit in #4 and looking at the issue, he confirmed it was his art]
Crime and Punishment
Titles he may have been in:
Crime Does Not Pay
Lovers Lane
[anything else form Lev Gleason in the late 40's and early 50's or so]
Thanks!

A couple of entries from my notes:
Black Diamond #53 - 12/54
Crime And Punishment #30 - 9/50
Lovers Lane #37 - 11/53
Hope that helps.

Thanks for pointing me to Allen Bellman. This page in Lawbreakers Suspense Stories #15

is clearly a match to this sample on the artist's website:

I say "clearly" but I'm not super-pro with the artist spotting. I'm adding credit to projects of my own, and I especially want my artist credits to be more complete. So thanks, this helps.

Ha, I just noticed that art is actually the same story. My database is just a fragmented, messy thing, so I overlook obvious things. Anyway I'm glad to recognize his art, or at least some of his art.
