Digital Comic Museum > Welcome and Introductions
Helloo... Weird how I found this place.
Yoc:
Thanks for that link T!
I still fondly recall the chaos created when someone brought some Fass issues to my grade 3 class!
We all thought they were cool but the teacher was much less impressed and confiscated them. From then on I wanted to see more but never did until finding them online many a year later. ;)
josemas:
I remember the first Fass mag I ever picked up to look at as a kid had this story (drawn by Dick Ayers) where a guy was having his head chopped off and it was flying through the air like it was going to come out of the panel. Yeccch!
It was really quite a shock to me as I had only seen the Comics Code approved comics of the Silver age up until then.
In fact it creeped me out so much I had bad dreams about it and wouldn't look at one of those Fass mags for years afterward.
Eventually I got inured to the gore and such as movies, comics, television, etc... got gorier in general over the years so it now I can look 'em over with no problem.
Best
Joe
tilliban:
I've led a sheltered life and never had to see Fass magazines.
I just know them from Mykal's enjoyable blog
http://www.bloodypulptales.com/
(I live in Germany and Eerie Pubs were never published there - snobs that we are)
Yoc:
That blog gives you an idea of the blood and guts gore they did T.
For a grade 3 kid it was shocking and fascinating. We knew it was forbidden stuff, much more violent than the stuff we were used to seeing. I never saw an issue on sale anywhere but that was before I started buying comics regularly.
tilliban:
I can still see the shock on that profile picture of yours...
;)
Did you put yourself behind bars - so that no one can get to you?
