VERY well done, as you say, Yoc,
Impressive and comprehensive - even makes reference to Charlton's 1940s Old Witch horror stories in Yellowjacket.

Bravo.

I like that it even has a bibliography.
I'll be checking other entries for sure.

This is a repost of sorts from the Obituary topic.

I'm very sad to say Harry Harrison passed away a couple days ago.
Here is a link to his official blog - http://harryharrison.wordpress.com/2012/08/15/harry-harrison-1925-2012/
Most famous for his 'The Stainless Steel Rat' novels he had a connection with golden age comics as well.

He was once an editor for STORY COMICS, well represented here on DCM.

Harry was interviewed about his time in comics in Graphic Story Magazine #15, (Summer 1973)
You can read this fascinating interview at the link which I recommend to all here - especially those interested in the Pre-Code Horror Comics we are hosting on DCM.

Hi guys

Question about the list. For Avon, Eerie is listed as missing #1. We have issue #1 (http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?cid=577). We're missing #13, no?

I have 1 story that's supposed to be in Eerie #13, 'Help Us To Die". There's no content information for #13 at the GCD (http://www.comics.org/issue/214575/). Can anyone confirm if this story is indeed from that issue?

Help us to Die:  http://depositfiles.com/files/rfr2xcf4q

Thanks,
Richard

I believe that there are two Avon Eerie #1s and I'm missing the second one. Hey, nobody's perfect, okay!

I missed that double #1. If you can use it, I have a cobbled together Eerie #1 (1951). The stories are from Avon's Eerie #15 & #1 (1947) and an I.W. reprint, Eerie Tales #12. Download link: http://depositfiles.com/files/9qdeyc1ju

I also have a Fawcett Strange Stories From Another World #3. I don't see it listed on site. This would complete the 4 issue run.

Hi Richard, thanks for your interest in this topic.

This Precode list is a little old now. Your best bet is to use the search feature on the site to confirm what is missing and not.

Did you have a problem using the Upload File link on DCM?
Here's the link for it - http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?ACT=useradddl
And here's a tutorial showing how it works - http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1882.0.html

Thanks for your Strange Stories From Another World  #3.  I've asked Prime user to upload it to DCM for you.

We're going to pass on your Eerie #13 until if can be confirmed it's from that book.  If you can find confirmation we'll add it - but not if it's from a modern reprint.

We have a UK reprint of Eerie 1+2 (1951) here - http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?dlid=16925
Until a real #1 (1951) shows up we will stick with that.  Our worry is adding yours might result in a true #1 not being scanned if an owner thought it was done already.

Movielover has been very busy creating a list of 'COMICS STILL NEEDED FOR SCANNING FOR DCM' that is very up to date.  You should give that a look as well.  It's a work in progress.

Friends! Folks! Fiends!

I took a long and hard look at the pre-code horror “canon” or “index” (as established in the 90s by comics historians like Mike Benton, John Benson and George Suarez), then looked at everything up here on DCM – and THEN decided to write my own.

I struggled with the grey zones of science fiction and crime, of course, and listed a slimmed-down core version. But annotated and hinting at interesting titles hovering on the border of horror.

I think it’s an enlightening read (and fun, too) – alas, it is in German. Because I did it for my German website. Here’s the link:

http://fifties-horror.de/wissen/der-horror-kanon

You’re invited to brood over it via Google translator or such. The automatic translation result is always awkward and sometimes wrong, but generally understandable. Good luck.

Yeah, Dracula and me pretty much share the same "hunting list".

But the count is mistaken about some books:

Sterling:
The Tormented #1 (July 54).

Toby:
Tales of Horror #9.

These are both up, the Toby one I put there myself.
And these are completed, last time I checked:

Quality:
Web of Evil: #1 & 14.
Last one again by my lovely self.

And I can promise very soon Harvey's TOMB OF TERROR #10.

The rest is shockingly hard to find,  I am massaging a guy in the US about that WEIRD CHILLS issue.
Something will be happening during the year...

There are also rumors about the HORRIFICS going online...
