My Comic Requests
John C:
Keep in mind that scanners do what they do because they feel like it. They're not organized and they're certainly not on a payroll. Because of that, the only way to get a firm non-affirmative answer would be to have every one of our thirty thousand members say, "no, I don't have a copy." I think we'd all agree that would be a horrible waste of everybody's time.
If you think of a request as "if someone happens to see it," that's great. If instead you're asking for some scanners to seek out, pay for, and put in the (almost literally back-breaking, surprisingly, if you haven't tried it) labor to scan a big pile of books you'd like to read...well, it's probably not going to happen, and prodding probably won't help all that much.
Our recommendation is always that anybody who wants or needs to see a specific scan shouldn't rely on the kindness of pseudonymous strangers (imagine asking when a specific Wikipedia article is going to get written or updated), but rather acquire and scan the books on their own and (hopefully) post them for the rest of us. That's where almost all of our contributors come from, after all (as Tilliban suggests), people who wanted to see specific scans that weren't showing up, and it's a small community of pretty dang nice people.
But no, I'd guess that nobody is sitting on a secret cache of old comics, just waiting for someone to ask for one before they scan it. There's also probably nobody with an overflowing piggy bank waiting for someone to ask them to buy comics for them.
Drusilla lives!:

The short answer is no.
Besides, what's the obsession with all these crime comics kid... branch out a bit, branch out a bit.
Try something new, like some of the horror mags... or perhaps sci-fi, or some of the super-hero comics... life's not all gangsters and gun molls (although sometimes they play a big role in the plots of the stories in these as well).
And then there's always romance. :P :)
narfstar:
Good answers guys. I buy comics just for the purpose of scanning. My first priority is price. A close second is DCM acceptable and genre. I am less likely to buy a romance then funny animal than I am a western or war and of course superhero. Many of the comics still needed can be pricey. Some of the least expensive are Charlton comics then various funny animal comics. I try to pick up a Big Shot when the price is right as those need filled in. I don't mind requests as long as they do not come with any expectations. I do think that anyone requesting should try to do their part in providing. If everyone that has downloaded just bought and scanned one book we could complete the site.

The thing is I like gangster and gunmoll comics.
And I wanted to collect a whole bunch of comics that had gunmolls.
So far, I've been having good luck.
But the only comic series that haven't been scanned enough are: Crimes by Women, Famous Crimes, Murder Inc., True Crime or any of most titles as I said in the first post.
You guys should really think about it.
John C:
Again, you're asking a community to "think about"...
* Track down comics that aren't necessarily easy to find,
* Pay whatever price they're offered for, and
* Spend possibly an hour or two scanning each issue,
* ...because you like them but don't want to do it yourself.
Nobody's avoiding your books (though pushing might cause some scanners to avoid them), but by the same token, if you're that interested in reading them, the absolute fastest way to make it happen is to do it yourself. As I said, I'd bet that more than half of our active scanners started doing what they do for exactly that reason.
