That's just Tilliban's wry Germanic sense of humor coming to the fore (in public, even), DL.
The wearing of the napkin over the mouth while eating is just one of those crazy German things that you learn to put up with.
Seriously, though, Tilliban was goofing and I was shooting just before we tucked into a lovely luncheon. There's a nice French influence to Thai cuisine and this particular restaurant has an amazing way with seasoning that sets it apart from typical French. Thai can also lean heavily toward noodle and clay pot dishes. I'm very adventurous in my eating habits, figuring that in most cases millions upon millions of people have managed to survive for centuries quite nicely eating their cuisine so I guess it won't kill me to try it once. Usually I find that I like it.
I don't know how available alternative cuisines are in your area, but usually they are excellent value for the buck and can be surprisingly delicious in very new and different ways.
