@GEO: Didn't mean to confuse you.
PENALTY is an expression from soccer.
Soccer is the European form of football.
So here's another one:

CRIME MUST PAY THE PENALTY #33

With an all new mix of artists. See JVJ's index card on last page.

Let's diversify, people!
Here's one of those rare ACE war comic books:

WAR HEROES #3

No index card for this one.
I say it's a clear-cut Molno on first, McLaughlin on second, "Ace" Baker on third - but:
QUIZTIME for the last spot: Who is this?
This guy did four or five ACE horror stories - Jim and I speculate this could be our "phantom" artist Mario Rizzi, but no one ever saw an art sample of Mr. Rizzi.
Is there a signature on the post-box-like device in the splash?
Does it say "Susan"? Does this make any sense?
Jim, please have another look.

Still a big "?", Tillmann, sorry. I will point out that "Ace Baker" is actually swiping some George Tuska panels in this story. Just look at those top two panels on page 5!

Keep up the good work.

Nom de chien!
(expression French people use in fifties comic books, never heard it elsewhere, that's part of the charm)
Nom de chien!
Still no confirmation on Rizzi.
I'll keep my eyes peeled.
(another strange expression)
Peel someone's eyes?!

Crime Time:

CRIME MUST PAY THE PENALTY #32

Interesting line-up with Jim McLaughlin, Sy Grudko, Howard Larsen and Dick Beck.
Who could possibly resist a crime comic book with story titles such as:

"Beautiful Babe + Crime King = Murder!"
"The Big Shakedown"
"Murder's Double Poison - Big Joa and Little Joe"
or best of all:
"The Punk With The Itchy Fingers"

More next week from your punk with the itchy scanner.

Giddyup, ya cowpokes!
There’s been a lot of western uploaded recently, but I too can’t help it.
It’s a scanning stampede with TWO issues of Ace’s western romance:

WESTERN LOVE TRAILS # 8
WESTERN LOVE TRAILS # 9

Missing issue #7 will follow in the next weeks.
WLT8 has an index card, WLT9 does not.
So it’s western quiztime and here are my guesses:
Looking at the #8 line-up (Ed Moline, Brewster & Walsh, King Ward and Louis Zansky) I speculate for #9 this line-up: Louis Zansky, Ed Moline, King Ward and Brewster & Walsh.
Just hafta shuffle those artists around…
That’s the main trick with art spotting.
 ;)
Jim even does it without using his hands!

Pretty damn good, Tillmann,
Zansky has a puzzling inker here and I don't know who it might be. And the last is penciled by Charles Nicholas, not Brewster - I'm pretty sure. He's VERY evident on pages 4 & 5. Also, I tend to disagree, upon reflection 25 years later, with the Moline ID on WLT #8. This is much better than Moline and not nearly as "influenced" by Raymond by way of Moldoff. Today I would credit Kisses At Wildcat Ranch to Frank R. Sieminsky (best guess) and an inker (?). [I only do this to confuse us all.]

Keep on keeping on. (|:{>
