Green Giant Comics

jfglade:
If you take a look at the group image of Richard Boucher's "Indies Universe 3" group, you'll see that there are some very poor fiche scans of at least the Green Giant story itself floating around. Richard had obtained scans of the Green Giant story which he didn't post to that group but did post the first page of the story to show how poor the scans were when someone asked about them. From the one sorry example it was impossible to tell much about the quality of the book itself, but the scans were exceedingly poor, and it looked like poor scans had been made even worse by being duped on a computer that had serious problems.

What little that has been written about that book usually suggests that Pelican decided not to distribute it because the color printing was horribly out of register. If John has digicam copies of the pages, at the very least he would be able to confirm or refute the idea that the book is only marginally readable.

I'm curious to see how this one works out.

narfstar:
The really bad scan may even have been mine. I tried to scan the fiche without having a film setting on my scanner. None of my scanners have had the film setting. Jim I am in no hurry for the fiche as I can not scan it well anyway. Instead of sending it to me you can send it to whomever Yoc finds willing.

JonTheScanner:
Check with Snard.  If he can't scan the fiche, he'll know the best person to do so.  Ontology was very good, but he's not been around for a while.

Yoc:
I was going to ask Loftypilot but I haven't seen him to ask.
Snard - you want to try?  I've heard the Giant book really was a mess so it might be pretty scary looking!

Roygbiv666:
So if the fiche gets scans, what happens when all our expectations of this "lost" comic are dashed? I suggest alcohol, the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems. Or read more comics.
