blastaar's uploads
« on: May 18, 2011, 07:21:54 AM »
Back in the scanning saddle after a busy school year, just added:

Tim McCoy #21 (final issue of the series)

to the Charlton section.

The Tim McCoy series is now lacking only #16, the first issue.  I have a low-res scan of #16, but in true Charlton fashion the original comic seems to have been collated while the ink was still wet, so a lot of pages are almost unreadable.  I'm still looking for a cleaner copy.

Added JVJ's Sparkling Stars #30, a 64-page anthology from Holyoke. More of this series to come.

The "Fangs" series in Sparkling Stars is suitably strange. I'm going to check for other episodes. I can't say I had seen an issue of Sparkling Stars previously.

Thanks.

Just posted Power Comics #004 in the Holyoke section.  My scan and edit of a comic from the collection of the inimitable JVJ.

And a fine one too, thanks to Blastaar and JVJ for this piece of comic history.

Just up: a blastaar scan and edit of JVJ's Sparkling Stars #24.  64 of 68 pages (missing cf) + JVJ's info.

This series seems to be particularly prone to losing centerfolds, probably because the high page count (64 interior pages when the rest of the industry was heading fast for 32) stressed the standard staples of the era. Or maybe just bad luck.

Thanks Blaasty.
Perhaps the missing cfs was why JVJ was able to aquire them cheap as well?
Even incomplete they are well worth scanning and sharing!

And in all probability I didn't care, Yoc,
As you say, much more interesting to have 64 of 68 pages than not to have any pages.

They are JUST comic books...

I don't know.  The idea of some cackling madman in an Eastern European castle hoarding the centerfolds for some nefarious purpose is sort of appealing...
