Yoc:
We've lost another of the legends IMO.

DICK AYERS (ME, Marvel) passed away on May 4th.

(April 28, 1924 - May 4, 2014)

There is a nice interview with Dick from Sept. 2001 from Alter-Ego v3 #10 can be read here -

I fell hard for Dick's work on ME's Ghost Rider comic.  Wonderful fun that you can read on DCM here -

It's a sad, sad day.

builderboy:
I had a very nice session with Mr. Ayers at a convention about 2 years ago. He was there for a signing, and I brought a copy of a book (can't for the life of me remember which, but I think it was a Sgt Fury in which Dick drew both himself and Stan Lee into the story).  He wasn't/couldn't talk, but his daughter was with him, and he was happy, and so pleased to have fans attending to him.  Great guy!  So sad to hear of his passing.

Mike Allred was also there with his wife, Laura.  I love his '60's stylings, blended with his fun/cool sensibility.  They chatted with me for hours. VERY fun.
