This was not unexpected, but still very sad.  JVJ's contribution to comics history was enormous, and that's without even considering his extreme generosity in letting us scan so many of his books for here and Comic Book Plus.

I'm proud to have been one of the JVJ scanning team.  In a few cases, he had duplicates of the books he sent out to scan, and simply gifted the extra copies to the scanners.  So I treasure my copy of Tales from the Great Book #3 as having been from his collection.  He will be enormously missed.

We've lost Keith Giffen

I can almost directly blame my love of DC comics on his work; I encountered his classic Justice League International run starting around issue #10 and instantly fell in love.  That lead me to his Legion run... I remember seeking out the Great Darkness Saga as some of the first back issues I ever looked for, for example.  And as time went on, he just did constantly entertaining work, able to snap from hilarious to serious with incredible ease.

This is very sad news.  I had heard about it just a few days ago.

Mike Voiles (DCIndexer)  - (? - Sept. 2023)
Mike was the man behind one of the essential databases for comics - “Mike’s Amazing World of Comics.”
I've read it started in 1997 and he averaged 40-50 hours a week working on it for 20+ years.  Incredible.

We've started a FANDOM OBITUARIES topic here for those that were not comics pros.
Mike is the first person posted there.

Crashryan informs us that John M Burns passed away on 29th December.
This is a great loss of a huge talent who produced so many strips of such high quality.

This is very sad but not unexpected news.   :-[
We're now reusing the 2013 banner we debuted on our 3rd Anniversary.
The Ramona art in it was generously donated by Roy Johnson.

We’ve lost M.D. Bright.  Quantum and Woody remains one of my all time favorite series:

We’ve also lost Ed Piskor.  X-Men: Grand Design was an amazing series:
