Sweeeet.  (but where is Flint?  He never goes anywhere without Man'O'Metal.)

Fearless Flint isn't in the Sentinels, dum-dum ;-)

Didn't HG Peter design Wonder Woman?

This is an Outrage!  Flint has been blacklisted from The Sentinels?!?
Shame, shame Standard!

And yes, he had something to do with that WW character.

Freedom Brigade #84 (Sep 1983)

As war operations in the European Theatre heat up, can the diminished forces of the Freedom Brigade defeat the Nazi's latest death machine?!?!

John Byrne does cover duty on this classic for Standard Comics' WWII-set "Freedom Brigade" series.

Wow that is by far the  best work Byrne has done in years maybe ever. All around a great cover and better than most out there.

Does anyone know if Sam Glanzman or Murphy Anderson still does commission work and for how much. I would love to have a Glanzman Hercules and Anderson Hawkman. This thread would be a good place to post a list of which GA and SA artists are still doing commissions and just still alive. Then have emails for those still working. If anyone has any to contribute. I think Jay Scott Pike was listed recently in Alter Ego. I would like a Black Diamond of his.

Thanks, Narf.

Not sure I agree on Byrne's work in 'decline'. Check out his commissions, they are awesome!

According to this article:
http://www.wtv-zone.com/silverager/interviews/glanzman.shtml

Glanzman wasn't really taking commissions in 2009. However, I found this undated mesage:
http://www.comicartfans.com/subnewsdetails.asp?nid=1454

with an artist rep. Then one saying that's on hold: http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=120260

No clue which applies.

You can pick up original comic art by him (and practically anyone) on any of these sites:
http://www.anthonyscomicbookart.com/
http://www.romitaman.com/
http://www.albertmoy.com/

and massive listings encompassing the above and more can be found:
http://www.comicartfans.com/

Go to the search box, type in a name, press "GO!" and click on the red link to "Dealer Results".

Lots of commissioning info can be found on these two sites:
http://www.comicartfans.com/
http://www.statueforum.com/showthread.php?t=48517

Wow, that is very, very nicely done!  He's put a lot of detail into it.  I can only hope you didn't have to mortgage your home to pay for it!  I grew-up on Byrne's X-Men and went back and found his Rog2000 and Doomsday+1 stuff.  Perez was another from that era I'd put in the same level.

I think he does superior good girl art as well - I think I'd have been tempted to have him do an all women team-up if I could afford the money.  He does some nice looking aliens as well.

Not quite re-mortgaging, but he's relatively expensive (otherwise he'd never be able to leave his drafting table) but he always goes all out for commissions, so it's worth it.

anybody wanting to inquire about a commission (rates, etc.) can contact his rep (or, "Art Pimp"), Jim Warden at capshockeyfan@yahoo.com - He's really easy to deal with, but he is a busy guy, so if you have to wait few days for a reply, don't be alarmed, he's not ignoring you. ;-)

Thanks Roy. I have spent a lot of time today going through some of the art available. Most of what I could afford does not have the feature that I want. For me Glanzman was the Hercules artist, Pike was Black Diamond and Murph was Hawkman. I wrote the agent for Glanzman asking about a sketch of Hercules #2 cover. I remember an ad from many years ago for LB Cole commissions that by today's standards would be really cheap. Too bad I did not take advantage of it.

I am not a big Byrne fan. Most of his work does not grab me. But your commission is an exception.

Freedom Brigade #84 (Sep 1983)

That is one sweet cover.  Incredible robot design.  And it's always great to see Black Terror.

Is that ink wash producing the grey, or is it a marker or pen brush?

BCing you

Not sure, he indicated he "threw in some gray tones to make the robot "pop" a bit more."
