Me too. "Great Canadian" is just redundant.

Bravo!
Super commission Roy, of course being Canadian I'm slightly prejudiced.

Oh WOW, this is one of your best ones yet Roy!
I really would like to try colouring it down the road.
Wonderful stuff!   :D

PS - I love the fun history you've created for the Standard line, mixing in real world facts like Roy Thomas now.
I bet he would have enjoyed writing the book you're showing here.

Makes me think of a Super Villain team-up book would be fun too.  The Claw needs love too!  ;)

I'll upload a higher-res copy when I get home and send you a link if you want.

Dibs on a color copy!

I think next up is a Super Hero team up book (like Marvel Two in One or Brave and the Bold) with a golden ager and a modern/futuristic hero. And a villain you may have seen before ...

I'm thinking of a John Byrne commisison with the Claw, but that's like 4-5 months budget.

Yoc, that's one of the challenges - there aren't really a lot of Golden Age costumed super villains, mainly Nazis and mad scientists and gangsters. Which means I really need to create some.

Hi Roy,
Sure, send me a higher rez one for colouring.

I'm thinking you could pull together a villain team if you really tried.  The shame would be the DC and Timely ones you'd have to leave out if you wanted a PD version.  Non-PD would be a lot more fun!

You catch this one Roy?

If you search for Goldenage Brigade you'll see others.

I also enjoyed Snyder's use of coloured paper for these Timely heroes here -

Yeah, the Brigade is by my "arch-nemesis" Kevin Moorhead. I have a whole imaginary rivalry with him or something.

He is - my solace is he's been doing it for years, does crosovers all the time, and has no mortgage. jerk.

He's pretty cool and his stuff is always fun. He loves obscure characters.

Ha!

Not really Golden Age, but GA related:

Just heard the artist was asked to send in art samples for a tryout at Dynamite Entertainment. Hope he gets it, he's really good.

A little more overtly GA:

Mmmm .... cheesecake.

I have another big one planned, but having trouble coming up with Golden Age costumed supervillains, that aren't DC or Marvel (or Fawcett). Any ideas welcome.

Wow, Craig Cermak did an amazing job there Roy!  Reminds me of Perez on Avengers back in the day.
With villains you know the old stand-by - 'mirror heroes' who are actually villains ie Prof. Zoom, etc all.  Everybody does it, again and again...

And there's always The Claw.  What a classic!

I've got like ... 3 or 4 other things that I have in mind (I write them up in emails and keep them in drafts until I'm ready to send them off) for him. Get him now while he's cheap and not (yet) famous. I think if the industry doesn't die off (shudder), he has a great career in front of him.

Also, I need to win Lotto649 - do you have this week's winning numbers on you?

OK

At some point, I think I want to re-do this cover with PD characters:

http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/File:Justice_League_of_America_Vol_1_124.jpg

I've figured out the substitutions for all the characters, except:
Wildcat, Johnny Thunder, and Hourman.

I want to replace them with Golden Age PD characters with similar powers or origins or ... you know, some kind of equivalent.

Any ideas? Help. ;-)

Twilight reminds me of Wildcat, and Stormy Foster (the Great Defender) is more-or-less like Hourman but trying to figure out someone who is the equivalent of Johnny Thunder is tough. The best I can do is Mystic Moot, and I don't think it works.
