Fawcett's Wow Comics #5 is up now!!!

******************************************************************************

January, 1942. This issue features 3 Mr. Scarlet stories, The Hunchback, Rick O'Shay, Jim Dolan, and Atom Blake. This is a coverless copy with the front and back covers from Heritage and the ifc and ibc from fiche.

This particular copy is interesting because of the stamp, "Greetings from Congressman TENEROWICZ," which is found on numerous pages throughout the book. Rudolph G. Tenerowicz (D-Michigan) served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1939-1943, and it's easy to picture one of his children, or the child of one of his staff members, getting bored in his office and playing with the stamp. A fascinating connection to the book's original owner.

Here comes another new scan, Prize Comics' Young Romance #49!

******************************************************************************

September, 1952 - Featuring "Witch Girl," "Honeymooners - Not Wanted!," "You'll Wish You'd Never Met Me!," and "Prince Charmin' Himself!"

******************************************************************************

I've also re-uploaded Western Fighters vol.2 no.10 to both reflect the corrected credits and fix the cover thumbnail.

The art on some of these looked so familiar, but other than possibly Bill Draut for "Honeymooners," I have no good guesses as to who drew the stories in this issue. If the book was a year later, I'd be tempted to suggest Ditko had some involvement in "You'll Wish You'd Never Met Me!," but I know it's too early for him. The characters just have "Ditko eyes" to me. I'd really love to know who actually drew it.

Look! Going up in srca1941's FTP folder! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a Will Eisner Artists' Edition? Well, no, but it's the next best thing! It's a full-sized, uncompressed 300dpi scan of a tabloid Spirit Section!!!

******************************************************************************

January 26, 1947 - Featuring the Spirit and Jonesy in full tabloid size from the Philadelphia Record!

A new cover to cover scan of Blue Beetle #35 is going up now! Well, mostly cover to cover. My copy is missing the centerfold, which I have taken from the existing scan here, and the back cover is damaged, but otherwise it is complete.

******************************************************************************

October, 1944 - Featuring Blue Beetle in three stories (one is part two of a serial), plus Joan Mason, and The O'Brine Twins.

******************************************************************************

srca1941's Countdown to the DCM 5th Anniversary - Part 1
« Reply #103 on: March 24, 2015, 07:20:56 PM »
As I can't recall being around to participate in any of the prior anniversaries, I'm going to try and make up for that with a countdown leading up to DCM's 5th on Saturday. Five books. Five days. Five different publishers. One for each year of DCM's existence.

First up, in commemoration of DCM's first anniversary, a small (but mighty) token from Fawcett, the Minute Man Mighty Midget is up in my FTP folder!

******************************************************************************

1943 - 600dpi scan. Part 1 of srca1941's countdown to the DCM 5th Anniversary.

******************************************************************************

Tomorrow: a new 300 dpi scan of one of the books I originally scanned in 2002 at half that resolution.
