Guys, as before, those Mary Marvels are from modern DC reprints.  We've pulled them down before.
Thanks anyways.  They are gone now.

Snard,

When I originally uploaded these in 2011, I got an pm from yoc, stating the darkmark had advised him he scanned them from a fanzine and that they were reprints.

So that said... if someone creates a fanzine by scanning actual public domain comics, and you then scan pages from the fanzine, are you breaking the law?

In theory, no, provided there's nothing involved with the copy that the courts might consider creative work done.

That's why we usually say no thanks.  There's no way to know if--for a borderline example--part of a page was drawn carefully for practice and whether a judge would consider that creative (keep in mind that, if I were able to paint and painted an exact replica of the Mona Lisa, I'd have the copyright on my replica, no question).

Professional reprints, for example, almost always recolor and adjust the line art.

There's also neighborliness.  We do generally try not to share scans if it's not clear the scanner meant them to be shared.  This would be one of the few cases where that would really matter.

Those are scans of mine that I made from some Mary Marvel Fanzines.  That means they're from reprints and they are not to be shared here.  Sorry, guys, I know you'd love those too, but you can't get them here.  And since this is the 2nd time we've had to pull them, let's clue newbies in or keep an eye out for these, okay?

Thanks for the explanation DM.  It would be nice to have a note in them for the DC++ people but everyone with an old copy would still be sharing them.
And there's no easy way to prevent well meaning uploaders for uploading them here again... until we get a new version to fill the holes here.

Oh well, the staff will try to keep them off but if they get added again someone here let us know!

Too bad he didn't get in touch. I could have provided the original RAW scans for him to work with.
