I think that's one of the reasons why I enjoyed the final issues of "Weird Comics" along with "The Eagle" among the Fox titles. It seemed like Lester Raye was trying to break out of the traditional format a bit, especially with the Eagle. And some of that experimentation carried over to the Green Mask stories in his own magazine.
But sadly, the titles were canceled soon afterward when Fox went under. :'(

By the way, I wasn't sure where else to do it, but I wanted to thank dsdaboss for both Startling Comics #4 and the incomplete Black Terror #4 -- two great titles that he added to the archives. ;D
