Again, I'm not looking for a revolution.  It just seemed like an interesting format to play with, especially for comics, and I was curious if anybody had any practical experience with it, especially with repect to tools.

SVG, I agree, is interesting, but that's another kettle of fish altogether.  With some JavaScript added, it's basically Flash that can be included in a web page as source and no extra software required (beyond a compliant web browser), but not something I'd store a comic or novel in for quick reading.

I prefer pdfs. Usually if I download a cbr or cbz, I'll use the images and create a multipage pdf with irfanview. Google Docs can be used as an online reader.
