Over to two areas I seldom visit... the Silver Age and Charlton Comics; tonight it's:
Texas Rangers in Action #11!... a double issue: 64 pages for 15¢!

This is a most interesting era for Charlton. These 64 page giants were, I believe, the direct result of the Atlas Implosion six months prior. If you examine them, you'll find artists like Williamson and Torres, Colan, Severin, Sid Check, Joe Maneely and others who were Atlas regulars. I'm sure that they all just didn't decide independently to offer their services to Charlton and accept their notoriously low rates. Too many artists were looking for too few paying jobs and they took what was available. Charlton expanded quickly, not adding titles but doubling the size of many of their existing ones. Any 64 page Charlton from 1958 is a potential goldmine of interesting art. There's about a 60/40 chance of you're being successful in finding something or someone really cool inside. FWIW. (|:{>

And  thank  you Len for this book. As Jim said about the artist, that issue you posted up has 3 stories with art by Al Williamson with help from Frank Frazetta on the first story. Al Williamson did more stories for Charlton in the western books they published.

First up tonight, a minor upgrade to Jumbo 49: 4 scans copied over from Jungle 39: ifc(indicia removed), page64-ad, ibc, and HAG bc. (all 'probables'). [upped via the CP-edit]
Also, pages re-numbered to reflect the missing pages: (still missing the text story & a TomDick&Harry page).

That's Williamson and Angelo Torres, Geo, on all three of those. No FF involved. He was busy on L'il Abner with Al Capp.

Barely made it! My 2 anniversary items were in 2 boxes, both held at a PO for sales-tax collection... I got there 10 min before closing  :D

and now 104 scans are done and it's still Mar 28 over most of the Western half of the Pacific, so happy fourth!!! as I finish off my 6th series of the year:
Captain Flight 7 & 8!
