Tonight, it's an early Quality fiche-replacement: National #3!
From a wrinkled coverless copy, and it turns our the very-old fiche is Not c2c: it has no ibc, so I could only 'borrow' the ifc. Fc&bc from the usual old HAG.

I think it is a great issue and a tremendous improvement over the fiche copy, and the wrinkles aren't really troublesome. I enjoyed the Uncle Sam and Sally O'Neil stories tremendously. Great addition to the National Comics collection.

The real holiday, of course, is Nov 1: All Saints' Day, or All Hallows, and the evening before is Hallows' Evening, shortened to Hallowe'en.
So, how about a family comic to celebrate it: Marvel Family 15! (now c2c paper)

All true but strangely it's never caught on with the public.
Thanks for the latest Len.

Actually the real holiday is Samhain (at least amongst the Celts) which marked the New Year (or at least the beginning of winter) on November 1st (of course that wasn't the calendar then -- the actual point was about midway between the Equinox and the Solstice. This dates back to BCE. During the time the Romans ruled Britain, Samhain was celebrated along with Feralia which was a day honoring the dead.

All Saints Day was introduced in 609, but it was celebrated in May. In 835 Gregory IV moved it to November 1. Cynic that I am, I assume the main purpose of this was to usurp the pagan day, much like Christmas is celebrated in December around the solstice and Saturnalia. Shepherds watch their flocks at night during the birthing season in spring, so it we take the Bible as gospel (pun intended), Jesus was born in the spring not winter.

Thanks to Jon for the info!
(By the way, that reinforces the fact that Christmas should be celebrated June 25 in the Southern hemisphere, and all other Christian holidays should be adjusted accordingly. So, next Apr 30 is Australian Halloween!).

Meanwhile, for the 'fifth day of Chrismas' (Dec 29), it's Prize's Charlie Chan #5! (no ifc/ibc).
Bonus scan: National 39 c2c!

For the ninth day of Christmas (Jan 2), my scanner gave to me:
a Jumbo 162, a Jungle 60 (brand-new, larger scans, and now c2c!), & a Jungle 114 upgrade (now with the text&ad pages + the bc thx to Carl!) (done thru my CP).
And a bonus: Green Hornet 14, missing 2 Hornets (20 pages), and the ifc+ibc. Remaining stories: Spirit of 76, Zebra, Twinkle Twins, & Mighty Midgets.

Hornet fans, pls get in touch!
