EXCITING COMICS #39/www.htmlcomics.com
« on: April 24, 2010, 08:21:21 AM »
I'm still on the lookout for a scan of EXCITING COMICS #39, the issue in which KARA THE JUNGLE PRINCESS makes her star-shattering debut, but have been unable to find one.

Incidentally, www.htmlcomics.com has been off the Internet for the better part of a week, and hasn't gone back online - I only wish I knew why!  In any case, I hope to have as much fun here as I do back at your original website, GOLDEN AGE COMICS SCANS.

I give HTML full marks for 'hutzpah' but I'm surprised they've lasted this long considering their content.

Word on the net is they took it down due to pending "Legal Issues" - but no word who are what those are.

I suppose most must have heard HTML Comics were raided by the FBI and shut down.

One thing that I find very interesting is there is no mention that _some_ of the scans at that site were public domain.  Obviously, those weren't the problem.  But I wonder how many people think that all scanning is bad, even when there are books we have a right to post since they copyright has lapsed.  And the articles on the takedown haven't helped.

Oh, like there could possibly be anything interesting out there that's not covered by a copyright held by an existing publisher.  All good things come with a brand name and a price, of course.

(My way of suggesting that the articles aren't trying to help.  After all, the public purchases very little advertising from ICv2 and other news outlets.  Not that I'm cynical or anything...)

Good example why sites like this one must be so careful on what's uploaded.

I was really surprised by the blatant breaches of multiple copyrights by htmlcomics. Also maybe or maybe not related comicsworld now has "Wordpress This blog has been archived or suspended for a violation of our Terms of Service"

That site has (or HAD) all kinds of comics for download. From golden age to fairly recent ones.
